Very easy to paint out the rivets with touch up paint from Chipex: (you'll need some anyway). I made some dummy rivets when I changed over to the 'proper' catches:

They matched the paint runs on the other body rivets perfectly!

I fitted engine turned stainless steel panels which avoids the colour mismatch, although not good QC to have such a mismatch in the first place.

I stuff the driving mat well out of the way anyway: I prefer to be able to slide my heel of the sheet metal.

Hey checked my rivets as I have the vintage bonnet catches and two are not painted as well. Do you think it might be on purpose as between the bonnet catch and the tonneau cover bolts it all seems to work together to me.

I suspect they make all the bonnets the same, regardless of the type of catch/fastener on the order, then just pop-rivet in a washer if the Dzus fastener is not to be used. Seems like they could have a process to not punch the holes if not needed, or at least paint the rivets, but apparently not.

I would guess that as the body is outsourced and manufactured produced prior to it being assigned to a build spec, the holes for the dzus fixings will always be put in. Yes they could touch them in, but I can't say that it bothers me on mine.

Suspect you're correct. Certainly none of the issues are major, nor do any of them bother me all that much (except the speedo error), but I do find myself having to answer "why is it like that?" questions from folks looking at it...

On the same subject, each side under the 'bonnet' halfway along is an upstand section of holed metal plate that has been poorly covered in leather trim. These do sweet fa on my vintage catch model. I guess they are for Dzus fixings. I wish they weren't there, look stupid.
