My Elise Cup with its roof on makes people shudder when I ask them if they want a sit in it. Mrs won't go near it and many a person who's tried has needed extracting physically when they've given up trying to get out.........yet with practice I get in like a well oiled snake without a murmer Contrary to belief the Caterham is the easiest car of all time to get in and out of, step over sill, stand on seat and lower yourself down, getting out just as easy. As for MX5's. TVR's, Boxter's and the rest, all a doddle. So buying this Morgan would be a boon in the "getting in" stakes then and easier than the lot of them? Wrong......I can't get in it without murmering "oooohhh, owwwww yer b'stard" After many hours working out why at my theory desk I now have the reason I think. The car is fitted with a rear tonneau to hide the weather gear, hood sticks, tools and butties, and as such limits how far seats can be pushed back. The aperture for entry between the double decker bus steering wheel and seat can be measured in Thou's. Sadly the car looks great with the cover on but this foul language on entry and disembarkment is not good. I'm torn on what to do, Also after 3 consecutive "shin clobberings" when getting out Mrs is now giving the car looks similar to the other "things" as she calls them I've owned I still love it though lol.

My Cat 7 had a crash frame and it was a clever way of making sure I and the wife kept fit , it made quite a difference to keeping the 7 tight , so even faster round corners at 230 bhp ! I may have asked you before , have you put your name down for the sat night bbq at the Swan at Newlands at runforthehills end Aug ?

Hi Max, no I've not put my name down for it. I will have a look at the full details of event and find out all about it. Have you still got your 7? Oakmere have just bought my last one. I have to say I'm using the Morgan more than I used any of them

No longer have the mad 7 but doesn't mean I don't want another if allowed , a CSR 260 or R400 would fit the bill .

The one I just sold Max was one of the JPE's. A fearsome and very quick car but just not road friendly in the slightest. Very awkward to use indeed. They say you should never meet your hero's. R400 for me is the sweet spot now. Cheers for the info. too

Before buying mine I hired one - amongst other things, to make sure I could get in and out with the roof on in my garage when it's piddling down.
Dislocating the left hip helps with feeding left leg under the steering wheel.
Now the S5 I sat in, that is like putting on a very snug glove!
Find the method that works and you'll wonder why you tried another way.

Find a nice 2016 Plus 8..
Same underneath, easy entry and exit. Wider cabin, too. The only downside, perhaps, is not quite the stunning looks.
I think the Plus 8 is a better product than the S5 Aero.
There are a couple of 3 other people on this site who agree...

It's a practised art..
Very akin to the fuelling up routine that my wife & I honed to perfection whilst touring in the M3W. Luggage stacked on rack, fuel filler cap underneath. Bladders bursting, rain falling gently, tank almost empty, we pulled onto the forecourt and out of nowhere the crowd starts..
Lean out in turn, allowing seat belt unbuckling, passenger out first, wheel off & driver out. Split pins out of front rack fixings, rubber sucker loosened at the other end and a joint lifting of the rack exposes the filler. Fuel up, toilets used and coats on again before reversing the routine.
Got it down to less than four hours after a while..
The exit and entry routine with a hood up trad needs to be practiced in private, as it's never going to be easy especially with a more umm, mature midriff and height.
it's all fun, though. If it makes you smile, you 'get' it..
Will look into dislocating the hip, Mark..!

Nice one guys, some good tips there Obviously my post was a bit tongue in cheek, however the rear toneau when fitted on the 4/4 does render the driving position somewhat similar to the one my old Mum uses in her Yaris

I can only respond from a drivers perspective but the Elise is easy to get into once you learn the knack of falling in. Getting out requires steering wheel leverage. I didnt find the Plus 4 that difficult to get in though the door lock mechanism "got me" a couple of times. Getting out isnt bad if you can push the seat back but I cant see how it can be done at all with the seat forward, so I can see where you are coming from with the tonneau As for the passenger side, I could have sold videos of my wife trying to get out of the Elise had I wanted a divorce that is! Going back to the tonneau issue I guess the problem is seat headrests. The trad doesnt comply with most safety laws - no airbags for example - so isnt it possible to order old style classic seats without head rests?
