There was a time when I got the dreaded shakes on hitting a pot hole at a certain speed but during a run yesterday it happened everytime I hit the slightest imperfections in road surface, any suggestions on how to cure much appreciated

Slightest imperfections in road surface was probably a bit of exaggeration but the shaking seemed to be more violent than in the past and quite honestly frightened the life out of me on the motorway. Previously I've managed to stop the shakes by adding a little power but this time had to decelerate and get on the hard shoulder

Every time I get the "Malvern Dance" I find I have a tire problem. Damaged, out of round, not true, out of balance. Rarely alignment but I always check "toe in".

How many miles? I have a 81 4/4 with 80K miles and recently changed kingpins and tires. Had a bit of a wobble prior. All good now.

Cheers,

Yes just approaching 76k I'll get all suggestions of King pins and tyre conditions checked out and hope that cures.
Many thanks,
Richard

Have you maybe lost a balance weight? Quite a common cause of a sudden change.

I had a similar issue on our 1985 4/4 once. A look underneath found some loose nuts and bolts at the base of the king pin on one side.

Recommend a spanner check round the front end.
