I see Uncle Melvyn is advertising a simple looking chassis mounted sump guard in this months' Miscellany. £325 + VAT.
The factory were looking at developing one some time ago also, I must enquire.....

I missed that, well spotted. It infers it's fitted for that money but that could just be poor wording.
I would want to see more pictures before diving in.

Small comfort, really as if it is the cooler it is likely to be "quite expensive" as access is somewhat limited...!

I will keep this thread updated - hopefully it's something B&C can fix without going to vast expense.

according to Uncle Melvyn, it's for the plate only - fitting is extra scared

that's what I thought too Brian and, given that there seems little chance of an S1 version of Cains sump plate in the near future,I contacted Rutter's to query them re. the ad. pricing in Miscellany.

I was wondering whether it was worth getting one sent and having it fitted locally.Uncle Melvyn's reply was -

'...The price quoted is for the sump guard itself, not fitted.'

Given that it would mean (at least) , an overnight stay for me to travel there for fabrication/fitting, it is all starting to look a little expensive..... thinking

I suspected it was plus fitting. If it's well made the cost is still reasonable in my opinion.

Hi, I thought I should put up my first post.
Russell Paterson at Revolutions in Perth insisted that I had one of his chassis fitted sump guards on my new Aero. There was a picture of it being inspected a few weeks ago on another thread. Looks very similar to its younger southern cousin.
Held in place by 5 existing bolts, so no serious tampering was needed. A firm up the road from Revolutions in Perth makes them.
I was happier with that than the Wolf one fixed to the engine.
My real issues are with the hood, and the Irish weather!!

Put up some pics if you can....

Glorious weather here today - 30 degrees. Surgical trailer work from the driver and mine's off for diagnosis. I don't think it's the sump, I'll know soon.
