I'm with you Ken! My Car is such a joy until that bevel box gets warm and it starts to scream and at that point, I don't know what it is something about the frequency of the sound or something and it just becomes a chore. I would definitely sign up for a service that would guarantee to quiet it.

If the factory where interested ! the problem they would have been solved by now! Agree, this is has been an issue for 4 years and no response from the factory. Pretty sure the NVH kit was a response. If so it clearly does not work. Did they actually test it before introducing it? My car gained the NVH kit with the new chassis & it does little or nothing to improve the whine. It just adds weight. Tim

Having owned 2 of these little gems in the early days, and been responsible for commisioning the Empire front end Geometry Correction fix, now being sold by Krazy Horse on a sole retailer basis, I have a continuing interest and the bevel box is just another puzzle to solve, along with the chassis breakages, serious but probably not impossible to overcome.
It strikes me that many owners have the worst noise once the BB gets hot. My 2nd one used to be reasonable for the first half an hour. It is also well documented here that the temperatures reached are very high indeed, probably as a result of excess friction, which causes the noise.
I remember that one or two owners have made a vent, to get cold air into the BB area and this has made a small improvement, so, if that is the case it struck me that a better solution might be to tap the box for some pipework and build in an oil cooler which would not only keep the oil temp. down, but carry an extra pint or so of oil, never a bad thing. Of course pumping etc would have to be worked out, but, you never know, it could work, better than the stupid NVH kit anyway.
Has this been tried yet, if not, who is going to try it?

Has this been tried yet, if not, who is going to try it? A US owner has done this and reported on it in the Oct 2015 edition of the MTWC magazine. However there is no mention of noise in the article, he was more concerned at the temperature the oil reaches and its degradation and wanted to reduce the oil temperature to increase the oil change interval from 3000 to 12000 miles. He succeeded in reducing the oil temperature but only with a very complex set up the oil cooler was under the bonnet with fans and the oil was pumped with an electric pump and in line he had flow meters and temperature gauge.

I have no way of seeing that article, but it does sound like it's more about engine oil than about the bevel box oil?

No. It is about bevel box oil, he measured the bevel box temp at 200 deg F and wanted to reduce it, I have access to and have read the article, but it is obviously not appropriate for me to copy it onto this forum.

My experience with oil temperature is based on engine oil temps. At 200 degree F it is in a safe range for the oil and nondestructive for components such as rings, bearings and other moving components. I have successfullly run synthetic engine oil for extended periods of time at up to 300 degrees F in a V8 engine running road track events.
I am not suggesting that 300 degrees is a desirable temperature but I have not been sucessful in reducing this operating condition. In talking to engine builders they seem to accept this as the upper limit for reliability of operation.
My point is that if the bevel box is running at 200 degrees F then that seems to be in a very safe range and is not contributing to the noise problem.

Well I guess the real engineering question is the noise being caused by the oil becoming too thin at that temperature, or is the noise being caused by shifting or expansion of Parts due to heat

Guys - The owners manual states use 80-140 fully synthetic for the bevel box and I know that some people are using Millers EP140 mineral to try to reduce BB noise. I'm thinking of using the Millers but with slight reservation.
As a group of owners, where are we all with this guys?
