If I was worried about running costs I'd have bought a Honda Fit Exactly. Cost is not a factor from the get go. It's an impractical blast that you simply use.

My mpg-ometer is currently showing 42.6 mpg after a nice day out with the wife. It goes down a bit when I'm on my own for some reason! I have noticed a very similar effect. Not only is your GPS always correct, but incorporates a fuel saver as well. I am the same, I tend to get lost more and use more fuel when I drive the Mog alone. I also seem to have less annoying noise as well

To everyone who says cost isn't a factor, once your M3W starts to cost over half of what it costs to own a Bugatti Veyron per mile (estimated at $18 per mile via jalopnik), it might start to matter a bit more to you. A sub-$50k vehicle should not have the running cost of a $500k vehicle... maybe that is just me though.

Including initial cost, shipping/importing, insurance, upgrades and repairs; excluding fuel and deprecation (thanks brexit), it has so far cost me $9.73 per mile. Charlie, greetings from another Michigander... Of course your $9.73 is a floating number. At some point the more you drive the M3W, it will be paid for, or at least depreciated and then you'll only have insurance, gas, oil and maintenance. So your $9.73 is based upon a mileage, when the end of the "life" depreciation be done, how many miles?

My cost per mile includes all the costs mentioned above over the time I have owned my M3W - 7,600 miles over 5 years (only used April to October). And Jalopniks cost to own a Bugatti was based over a 5 year stretch with 2500 miles a year max.
Yes, over time the number will drop as my mileage increases, but as I was told by the dealership, my M3W has had more issues than any other they have dealt with, totaling over $15k. In fact, it is at the dealership right now getting fixed again.

Are your figures counting the purchase price of the vehicle and their's(jalopnik Bugatti) are not?

The Bugatti in Jalopniks post was possibly a lease? $350k down minimum for purchase, $24k a month payment for lease - the longest lease Bugatti will do is 5 years with a 2500 mile cap per year - and it included items like a $10k detailing and $50k per set of tires. They might have included fuel costs? I did not. My M3W was $53k shipped, with now $15k in repairs and $2k in frivolous upgrades. As far as road going cars its the Veyron. Its projected regular expenses are staggering for a car that is made for public (albeit very wealthy) use. $350,000 is the initial down payment according to Bugatti that you have to have in order to even consider buying one. $24,000 is what it costs to lease a Bugatti Veyron on a monthly basis. But there are a few caveats. You can only drive 2500 miles a year (technically 7 miles a day) and you can lease only for 5 years. $40,000 is what it's going to cost you just to deliver your Veyron to American shores. Yes, for the price of a 2013 Infiniti G37 Coupe, yours is just delivered. $2500 is the average monthly insurance that one owner reported on their Bugatti Veyron. $140 is the average price for a fillup of gas in the United States. City gas mileage is 8 and highway isn't much better at 13. The 1001 horsepower 16.4 liter engine is a thirsty beast and with gas hovering around $5 a gallon and your 26.4 gallon fuel tank, fill-ups alone are around $140. And upon delivery, there are certain maintenance items you are required under contract to do which includes a routine annual maintenance of $20,000, detailing services around $10,000, a wheel and tire replacement every 10,000 miles with a price tag of $50,000 for a set of tires. My running costs in almost 2 years and 7000km has been fuel only plus one annual service/oil change.
Tyres are barely worn. Petrol is irrelevant to the fun provided. I have no idea what it uses.
I don't push it so i've never had to push it

I don't push it so i've never had to push it 7,500 miles and should get another 2,500 out of the tires. Mine has been trouble free as well. Granted it's a newer one but my dealer attributes it to " knowing how to drive it" and "keeping after it". I ran it in properly, never lug it, and keep it between 3,000 and 4,500 RPM 90% of the time. I'm always attending to any creaks, rattles or squeaks , and inspect her frequently. Service at 1,000 and 4,000 and 7,000 as required. No other expenses beyond fuel... a pretty consistent 25-28 MPG. The roughly $50,000 I invested in my joy is now about $7/mile. Super cheap. Best money I've ever spent.
