Wish you luck in your search, maybe go classic for a while? No gizmos to worry about, zero RFL and hopefully no depreciation.
Post 90 classics maybe - by that era they were reasonably reliable and reasonably painted. My days of lying under a rusty old car on axle stands are over - apart from anything else, it takes me ages to get back upright! .... Here we go again.... I'll give up all alcohol for a month if howard enters Morgandom . Its on record now. F430 to Mog plus 4 is a big jump , 400 bhp to 150 bhp !
The 430 is 500bhp but 1.5 tonnes. Howard won't buy a Morgan , so don't worry !
Geneva 2016 plus 8' The Green Godess' 4 side exits .

The Fezza! Sold it this afternoon.
As I said when I bought it, the plan always was to sell after 2 years but this is a little earlier than I expected. I had a decent offer on the car and all reports suggest that high end car prices like house prices are weakening, so I decided to accept.
The 430 is a fabulous piece of kit and I am really lucky to have owned one. Its a true sports car whose slightly modified relatives were racing at le Mans just 10 years ago. And whose offspring the 458 has only just finished racing there. It goes like stink, holds the road like glue and drinks the finest like George Best. And in Rosso Corsa it looks stunning.
But unless you are really wealthy and I am not, a Ferrari isnt that useable. You cant afford to pile on mileage - depreciation is about £2 per mile. Other running costs are high. Security is an issue. So it was fun for a while and I might sometime return to Maranello but until the market stabilises one way or the other, I will do something else.
Question is what. I know how much you all enjoyed my indecision last time round so I plan on keeping you fully informed again. And the first possibility I am looking at as a way of having fun for a year or two without losing too much of my Future Ferrari Fund is to buy a Plus 4.
Possibility mind you. Anyone giving advice? Or offering odds? F430 to Mog plus 4 is a big jump , 400 bhp to 150 bhp ! To be fair I went from 911 to Plus 4 and felt more liberated than anything. I think everyone has their minimum acceptable power (MAP) figure, anything over which is wasted power and money. Yes, liberated is a good word - from the need to drive as fast as the car can, and instead enjoy the intensity of engagement that is available at lower speeds. I went from a 993 turbo to a 4/4 (via an Aeromax) and miss only the luggage space in the Porsche which was actually quite good. The 'problem' I predict Howard will have with a +4 is that whilst it is very tactile and engaging and fun, even at cruising/bimbling speed, it can't hold a candle to his beloved Lotus for handling. So he will have to slow down through the corners as well as being slower on the straight bits. Of course, getting that AMG A45 he was considering as his daily driver would scratch that itch in a different way

Thanks for sharing that H I wish you good luck and good decision making on the next choice. The Hunt is all part of the enjoyment I always think. Do keep us posted! And no I will not be giving up Wine for a month if you buy a Morgan! Cheers!

My days of lying under a rusty old car on axle stands are over - apart from anything else, it takes me ages to get back upright! Depends on what you buy, if a decent restoration has been done ( and almost all will have been restored by now) rust and reliability isn't an issue. I'm guessing that over the last year I've done at least the miles in my AH as you have in your F without any issues at all. My hamfistedness with the heater control excluded I'd also avoid anything 90's on, complicated gizmos abound and likely to be plagued with electrical faults, simple is best! And if you never want to have to get under a car at all then you definitely don't want to think Morgan.

If I didn't have the 4 seater and a family who occasionally want a ride out and wanted a bit of fun and to tinker and a ride around in for a year or so and not lose much money, I'd go for an early 2000's 4/4 with the 1.8 black top Zetec A lowish Mileage one in great condition, all aluminium, galv chassis can be got for between £20-£27K Williams have a super cute yellow one up for £25,995 You can buy a brand new whole engine on eBay for £700ish if anything goes wrong but all bits are pretty reliable and most other bits can still be bought through various suppliers and dealers I'd take the windscreen off, put aero screens on - have a good three zip tonneau cover made and tootle around come rain or shine and enjoy Then when bored, sell it on - cheap Morgan motoring And miles and miles of smiles from everyone Doesn't fulfil any of your criteria Howard Thank God

Go and buy something modern like an i8 Good suggestion. I'm very happy to drive my Morgan long distances, I find it very comfortable, but if Howard wants to be cosseted then a Morgan is not for him.
