....as I would be going for a more modern looking car like the AR Plus 4. ... I would get a 2nd car for daily driving.

We bought our '80 4/4 4-seater as a daily driver and use it that way. The 4 seater provides enough seating for the family.

I use my Plus8 often. OK...not every day but uses the tintop so I am "left" with the Mog. Oh dear! What a shame! Trips to town, golf, visits, take dogs for walks etc.. The tonneau cover is my preference but the trad hood is fine if rain is about. I fit the rear and fold it, so it is almost like an easy up if needed. I have a clip for carpark tickets and take a photo with my phone as insurance in case of theft. Nothing valuable is left in it......either locked in glovebox or carried in a bag. (Man bag of course!). I do 7k+ miles per year, currently on 56k for 2002 car. So, not a low mileage "garage queen". I bought the car to use.

I swap mine about with my other cars to keep the tyres round, so not a daily driver.
Once you plug the gaps it's as dry as any other car.
Not a 4 but I have the mohair in black easy up (easy down too!)
I use it in whatever weather, I keep it treated with Fabsil Gold liquid (I use a little roller to apply) apart from that a brush and an occasional wash.
Aircon would be nice but I bought mine 3rd hand so took what was optioned.

You're lucky. I have to run to the garage to get to the Mog before SWMBO or it's gone.

I've used a roadster and a 4/4 as daily drivers. As stated above, once you've plugged the gaps they're fine. Also forces one to not be shy of using hood. For me personally, vinyl easy up is most efficient, but I agree that it doesn't look so good. Do it, you'll love it. And you get better and better at driving it, which is part of the appeal. In normal cars, once I get to know how they handle I get bored and start looking for a replacement.with a mog there's always something new to learn. Nick

A Morgan is a fair weather toy and using one in the cold and wet is a miserable experience.
During a recent downpour, I had water dripping on my lap and head(yes the roof was up), dripping on my feet, and I found out during a recent service even the spark plugs get p*****d wet through.

I am using my 4/4 to go to work as often as possible. Trad hood is stowed in the back as an "insurance" as I am driving with hood down always. It takes only some minutes to erect the hood and install the side windows which I also do not use for normal driving.
As long as roads are salt free and snow free I drive my Mog, otherwise I take my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Yearly mileage is about 10.000 km.
Best regards from Austria

Thanks for the responses so far. With regards the hoods i assume people prefer the traditional one for looks only? Having used both, the trad hood is not waterproof above 50mph as the front over the screen lifts an water runs up the screen and into the car. There is a variation between cars as to how waterproof they are altogether. Some people get wet in relatively light rain and others hardly get wet at all. In my experience the easy up is better although the trad hood on my earlier 4 seater was good enough except that being vynil it shrank when cold and so was 2 inches too short to use in winter unless it was left on all the time.

The easy up gives better access behind the seats and is much easier to keep the rain out. I much prefer the look of the easy up, even when it's down.
I've written a chapter in the book about keeping the rain out.
