On my 2009 4x4 there is a knocking sound coming from the front left corner of the car when hitting a bump or a pothole in right turns (and only in right turns).

The suspension is absolutly quiet when hitting potholes with the steering straight or when turning left.

I know the front suspension of Morgan is 'special' (and on the 4/4 it still looks the same as on my 1932 M3W) but this does not explain the noise.

All the nuts and bolts are tight, it's well greased and there are no obvious visible signs that something's wrong.

-> Where would you look first? Any idea what could be wrong?

Next thing I'll do is swap the dampers left/right. That's a quick check.

Wolfgang

Not unheard off for the diagonal front crosshead tensioner bar to snap just at the threaded locknut fixing. Easy to test just grab it and try and move it. It's often neglected to check and may be the answer. After that look for the top wing stay to be broken (the stay from the top of the crosshead to close to the upper wing sidelight)

Hi Colin,

thanks for the hints. I already checked the tensioner bar, but I'll definitly have another look at the wing stay (albeit I haven't seen anything when installing the brake reaction bars).
