It's dropped my account

Suggest try to close account again?

Not able to Graham, there is no longer a delete link. Where it was there is now a message that the account will be deleted on the 10th.

There is an option to let me restore the account!

Their most recent nudge mail to me went automatically into my spam folder. I logged on out of interest. No images but storage is still 54% capacity. I took the opportunity to scramble my date of birth and change my password into something I won't remember.

Yep. It's done. No temptation to go back in. No idea what it is......

Well that's one strategy I suppose! Not one I'd use myself, I wouldn't want to lose control of the account until I knew it had definitely gone.

One thing I would recommend to anyone who hasn't yet done it is to reset your email address to point back to Photobucket, that way you'll avoid any future spams.

My account has finally been deleted, a few days later than promised but I imagine they have a backlog of deletion requests. The only real effect is that all my pictures now appear as a kitten instead of the "update your account" dial.

My guess is that the live system dumps the user data to a marketing bucket once a "time period" and then marketing try and bludgeon you to death with spam for a bit based on this. Next update should remove it all being well. Then again it's photobucket so thats optimistic.

Hit the unsubscribe link in the email.

btw. If you don't have confidence in who the email is from never use the unsubscribe button but just hit the junk icon on the message. Junk/Spam emails look for any button push, unsubscribe etc to show an email is alive and so hit it harder or sell it on. Dont get angry and reply or click anything.
