Hard to say, my experience with my '14 Corvette after 32k miles is about 42, commuting and trips, so may be closer to 35 in the M3W.

I seem to remember mine was around 700 miles when the second limiter came off.
The limiter cuts out just the same but at the higher rev limit.
The rev counter is likely to lag the engine revs if you spin up quickly but the ecu will cut out at the prescribed speed.
If you have stock exhausts you might find it struggles a bit to get to 5,800 and you may hear pinking or a sound like gravel going down the pipe above 5,500 which is the exhaust strangling the motor.

Chill out guys and be patient. All this talk of exploring rev limiting on ridiculously low mileage engines. This huge pot heat generator needs thousands of miles to bed in. You may have heard of high mileage owners mentioning their engines continue to loosen up - mileage tuning? Hitting the rev limiter can be dangerous if it happens in the middle of an overtaking manoeuvre (don't ask how I know  ). As mentioned before torque and power are dropping off when that happens anyway. Keep a closer eye on tacho and change up accordingly.

Can't understand why you would want to be bouncing the car off the rev limiter when driving on the road? That's track style driving, I know for sure I would not want to buy a second hand car from some who thinks that to be a normal driving style.

Can't understand why you would want to be bouncing the car off the rev limiter when driving on the road? That's track style driving, I know for sure I would not want to buy a second hand car from some who thinks that to be a normal driving style. This happens occasionally and im fairly certain that this is a sports car.. 😏

So it is the car that is doing this and not the driver!!!!
To take a large motor like ours with only a few hundred miles on the clock up to the rev limiter is certainly not the way to run them in properly and will undoubtedly shorten the life of the motor.
As Richard Wood has said above, it will take several thousand miles to run them in properly and this is done by not letting them labour but also not screaming the bowels out of them.
I have never found it necessary to take mine up to the rev limiter, but perhaps I drive mine like a grandmother.
IMHO whoever does this does not have much appreciation for things mechanical.

Well when the rev limiter is around ~4200, it's not very hard to bump up against it. I certainly don't make a habit of wringing the snot out of it with only 500 miles, but it's not hard at all to get to 4200 when passing someone given the useful range is 3-4k. I don't find it a big issue, and not something that worries me...
