Well said Chester G,
We are in our own way, a little bit daft why else would we choose to spend £50,00.00 + on such a car as a Morgan. Like most things in life, you pays your money and makes your choice.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

O.K. I've been down this track a couple of times but I'm game. I am very much with Steve T in that you can't have too many mechanical watches. I have:- Carlo Ferrara Quadro Regolatore Vogard Black F1 Panerai Luminor Marina Pierre De Roche Splitrock Concentric Crono Marcus Richard Mille Hypo Garrick Morgan ( only one in the world ) You have some crackers there Reg! Very nice I don't own a Vogard Black F1 Reg, but seeing it on your list reminded me of it. I've really stopped collecting watches, and have sold a few but could be tempted if an F1 was still available as they were really revolutionary. Have IWC brought out a watch with Michael Vogt's patented World Timer complication?

My battered old wind up Sekonda, bought for me by my father when I left primary school for junior school nearly 28 years ago.
Current value is less than 10 quid.....

Very nice ....,,,I've really stopped collecting watches, .... Me too, I didn't wear my really nice ones for fear of damaging them when tinkering in the garage and the upkeep and servicing nice mechanical watches gets a bit expensive after a while so have gradually sold my little collection I've realised they are nice to appreciate and full of interest and can waffle on for hours about their design, provenance and manufacture but I'm happy now to read and look and pretty pictures rather than hanker after owning them

Casio F-91W. The design has not changed for donkeys, they've sold many millions & the battery lasts years.

Brian, I don't know about the IWC World Timer, perhaps Stewart can tell us, he has all the books I see. You are right about the Vogard F1 Black though, it is a really nice watch and to make it even nicer ( and perhaps because I have spent too much money with Marcus ) I got two straps, one in red and one in black. My watch is number 76 of 99.

Reg, A Vogard F1 Black with a black strap is for me the perfect combination! I do wish I'd bought one. I have bought a couple of watches from Marcus and still have my Hublot Big Bang AeroMax version which came from them, though I rarely wear it... I've seen the IWC World Timer and it could well be the same complication, but I await Stuart's input from his library of watch info! Even if it is the same complication, I do prefer the Vogard...

Casio F-91W. The design has not changed for donkeys, they've sold many millions & the battery lasts years. Wikipedia: "According to secret documents issued to interrogators at Guantanamo Bay, obtained and released by The Guardian, "the Casio F-91W digital watch was declared to be 'the sign of al-Qaeda' and a contributing factor to continued detention of prisoners by the analysts stationed at Guantanamo Bay. Briefing documents used to train staff in assessing the threat level of new detainees advise that possession of the F-91W – available online for as little as £4 – suggests the wearer has been trained in bomb making by al-Qaeda in Afghanistan."United States Military intelligence officials have identified the F-91W as a watch that terrorists use when constructing time bombs. Obviously, any other watch or device including a precise alarm can be easily modified for the same purpose by anyone with a basic knowledge of electronics. The F-91W simply happens to be a very popular, reliable, ubiquitous and inexpensive watch which is readily available almost everywhere in the world."

On that basis having two working hands could indicate terrorist training as two would definitely be useful if making a bomb. Did "military intelligence" (an oxymoron) not consider that the wearer had one because it was reliable, cheap & available?

Just browsing through the latest GQ and thought these watches were all rather nice I did have the Omega Museum piece pilots watch a few years ago in my collection and these dials all seem to be inspired by classic pilot watches, they all seem to have the large oversize crowns which allowed adjustment while wearing pilots gloves All very reasonably priced too Timex £550 , Longines (my favourite) with the old style Mercedes hands is £1,240
