Anyone noticed a slight 'pinking' on pick up from low throttle? I have noticed a slight pink when opening the the throttle at low revs. Maybe as a result of the engine running very lean? I am going to get my friendly neighbourhood engine management man to check out for fault codes on the ECU.
I always use 97 octane plus fuel and the symptoms dont seem to change with each tank (indicating it's not bad fuel).

Phil, keep us in the loop as that sounds a little strange - as you said, first thought would be poor quality fuel or contamination

Phil, keep us in the loop as that sounds a little strange - as you said, first thought would be poor quality fuel or contamination I've had my 2003 running whilst it bieng hooked up to a Bosh mobile ECU GUI watching the adaptives in real time... didn't see any pinking. With the BMW management system able to fine tune each cylinder fire it shouldn't pink. We've had two counts of bad news with Aero's today... Dad's Aero whilst out last week was hit by a WHOLE BRICK that dropped off a builders lorry!! Really clattered the passenger door and the rear wing... and currently I'm locked out of my boot due to a faulty rear latch mechanism!! On the + side spoke to a Veyron owner today that has a Mk3 on order at the George & Dragon, Wargrave.. he was there with a small group of well healed Harley owners... it was an absolute blast and had a great time talking to them.. must have looked really funny to the rest of the pub. I've hooked him up with TM just in case he's after a good pub day out when he gets it.

Did he say what colour scheme he was going for? A Veyron 2-tone perhaps? And did your manual release work on the boot (did the S1 cars have the manual override?)?

He's getting his in Dark blue similar to mine.. and he's getting A LOT of 1-off mods as well. rear wing, polished wheels etc. Nope the manual release has not worked.... phoning the factory this week to try to get in!!

He's getting his in Dark blue similar to mine.. and he's getting A LOT of 1-off mods as well. rear wing, polished wheels etc. Paul: the guy who does most of the Aero bonnets, or 'Basher' as he's known in the works, was keen for me to have a rear wing fitted on the boot. He's done several Aero's like that, including one for the owner of Morgan France. Personally, I decided against fitting one. Regarding the wheels, I think that you'll find that for Europe it is the other way round. The standard new type wheels are polished, but you can pay extra and have them graphite finished on the spokes; the rim remains polished. On the Aero 8 America, the graphite wheels come as standard. Wasn't just me Guv; as he hears the sound of the green wellie of that well-known horticulturist! :largewellie: Hope you have a happy 'connection' and that it solves all your pick-up problems...
