Thanks for this Howard This is what it looks like underneath, it's a thick black rubbery coating. Would you still recommend applying wax oil ? It looks very well sealed up to me.

Looks fine to me, I would make sure I get under there for a good look around every 6 months or so to make sure the coating is still in good nick. Any point areas of damage can be easily addressed when they are small.

Disappointed to see only half carpet in there, Craig.. It should be full Wilton, wall to wall, or in a few peoples case some good shagpile to snuggle into under there..

I'd stop worrying Craig. That looks like a thick coating and could well be stone chip paint. Use the car all the time as is and simply do a yearly inspection.

Mine's a 2013MY 4/4 and it has a galvanised chassis.
Seems odd given they were meant to be phased out some time back. Were they reintroduced?
That aside I'm quite pleased actually. I have little faith in this new coating which IMPHO will probably fail and lead to all sorts of aggravation in the nearer than farther future..

The galvanised chassis ran out in earlyish 2016.
