Thanks Dave. I recall somewhere you had a pic of which relay is which but I cannot find it. The 2006 parts list suggested the LH pair for the two fan speeds (although looking at the loom it also implies there is no relay at all!!!). There is an outside chance that the higher speed one has failed which takes out the energising current.

Ah........ cooling fan or heater fan?
I'm talking heater fan.
The cooling fan has two relays and in 2005 cars they are above the steering column. Well they are on mine!
So L to R it's: Cooling Fan (High Speed) Cooling Fan (Low Speed) Ignition ECU Fuel Pump Start The big one is wiper delay.

Ooh - that explains it - heater fan is what I am after. Which implies no relay for the heater. And the switch takes a feed from the heater fuse - that fits with the wiring loom description.
Which means that it all failing on the dash module fuse failing is far less logical and will be a pain to find. Ah well at least the knowledge is building!
Many thanks

My 2005 4/4 (built no 20) have now a two speed fan. But that after I have bypassed the el.board and put on new (lucas) switches.

Sounds like I may end up doing the same. Just I'd rather not be doing it a week away from a 1200 mile round trip to France!

Nick, the fuses on my 2006 car are under the dash a 15A unit for the heater. There is also a fuse box on the scuttle with a 20A fuse for the main fuse box feed. Hope that helps john

Impatience got the better of me.... had acquick try with a new fuse. It works unless I put the faster stage of fan on when the fuse goes. So dash off tonight.... I am assuming the fan switch operates a relay for the fan so the 2nd speed should not be more load. But being a Morgan that logic may not hold! Exactly what kept happening to me. Part of the problem, I am told, is that the circuit for the fan is backwards in as much as the fan is constantly live and the control for fan speed etc is on the earth (negative side) of the circuit. If the fan is working at high speed and you turn off the ignition you will see the indicator lights fade over a short span of time. This is because the fan motor, still spinning, works like a generator You will find a burnt out track on the board, which can be bypassed by a length of wire, but it does not solve the base problem. Poor design!! Also, in my case, the board later burnt out again further along the circuit. Probably due to individual variables it is OK in 99 out of 100 cars however in my experience it was a problem until Borghi replaced the whole system with wire and relays.

Totally unrelated to the dash electrics, but I've been troubleshooting this afternoon. A couple of days before the MOT, when checking the lights I found that the offside (rightside) main beam didn't work. Two sharp blows with a flat palm got the light on, I checked the connections inside the bowl, and it stayed on for the MOT.
But as we all know, cars don't heal up, and a flat palm strike never cures anything. And so when I tested the lights today I found that I had no main beam on the offside. Initially a flat palm strike brought it on, but later in the day this didn't work. I rechecked the connections and substituted the bulb. No power. Tracing the blue/white tracer back under the front wing leads to some bullet connectors above the wing stay. The main beam feed was really loose. In fact the bullet sleeve was way too loose, and so I replaced it. And suddenly all was well......

Amazing how these faults always seem to evolve at MOT time.
