The Plus E in fact was a no no. It weighed twice the weight of the petrol engined car and had very limited range. But battery technology has moved on in leaps and bounds so who knows what it might be like today!

Not sure about the falling roof line on the Alcraft , and I imagine it could get quite warm inside with all the batteries underneath and the full glass roof, still it's a nice concept

Expensive motors are expected to announce their presence with a growl, not a whimper.

I just can't get excited about electric generally and especially not in a Morgan. Can't see the point of some silent bone shaker it's the smelly noisy engine that makes it what it is. That's interesting and I thought I was the same but then I thought about how I love sailing but not motor boats. We recently spent a couple of hours going from Lymington to Portsmouth in a friend's motor yacht and quite frankly it was noisy, dirty and uncomfortable. Set off under sail and it's quiet and graceful (most of the time) - a completely different experience. Like others have said, I think I'd soon get used to not hearing an IC engine.

I understand where you are coming from. I am a sailor too. But for me the link between all three - sailing, sports cars and motorbikes - is the exercise of skills. A mobo is just a means of getting from A to B. You point it in the right direction, open the throttle and sit there. A sailing boat requires that you read the wind and tides and tune the sails for maximum performance. Sailing is about the journey not the destination. Motorbikes are similar. I wear ear plug to minimise the noise of the IC engine and wind. But I enjoy the blipping down the gears, cranking the biker over, and accelerating hard out of a corner with the front end going light. In contrast , a bike on the motorway is a PITA. Sports cars are similar too. Boring on a motorway and who can use the 180mph top speed? Instead you get the fun out of bend swinging even in town. In Lottie the Lotus, I used to enjoy going round the outside of other cars on roundabouts coming in after them and exiting first. In the Ferrari I really enjoyed blipping the engine down a couple of gears with the flappy paddles and then squirting it out of a corner. Bend swinging. What I am getting at here is that for me at least the enjoyment comes from the way that these vehicles can be handled and perform. Not American drag strip performance which is IMO irrelevant. And the laws of physics means that an electric Morgan will be even worse than a petrol one because of weight and less fun because of gears and wont even have the musicality of a nice sound track from a V8. Instead a high pitched whine like some feminist TV panel show person. Plus I suspect that the eco move to electric wont come alone and such things as car following radar will come too.

The Alcraft looks like the love child of the Range Rover Evoque and a Tesla!

Yes I must say I was a little disappointed with the style. Given both their histories I was hoping for something beautiful. Then again legislation probably has a lot to do with.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
