No idea if they're any good, but might a solar trickle charger plugged in via cigarette lighter socket do the trick when you're travelling?

I'm very confused now!
I simply think if I go away for 7-10 days and park my Aero outside in a hotel car with little or no use, I will Not be confident the current spec battery will hold up so surely a higher capacity battery will take longer to go flat solving my concern.
I have all my cars on trickle Ctek chargers at home.

A new battery should last at least a couple of weeks... however, take a jump pack... if it goes flat, then you can start immediately.

You're quite right.

Fit a larger capacity battery and you'll be able to leave the car idle for a longer period without suffering from a flat battery.

fit an Odyssey battery *, keep it on a Ctek trickle charger and get a battery booster/jump starter pack for when it's been standing a while when away from home

Typically a cars immobiliser and alarm should take about 50ma so a 50AH battery should last 30 days and still have enough juice to start the car. Starting the car will typically take juts half an amp hour. So your battery at 50AH should be more than sufficient.

There could be one of three issues if you are getting problems. First is that car batteries arent designed for deep discharge and if you do that more than a few times you affect the capacity of the battery. That capacity declines with age anyway.

Second issue is that you may have a 60 am alternator but its unlikely ever to put more than maybe 45 amnps into the battery and then only when its deeply discharged. On my boat I have found that it takes almost 6 hours engine running to fully charge a 50% discharged battery with the charging rate dropping from 45 amps initially to less than 5 amps towards the end.. What I am getting at is that its very easy with a lightly used car to get into a vicious spiral of discharge and then not fully recharge .

Third issue is that you have something taking leccy that shouldnt be doing so whilst the car is standing.

None of these issues go away if you just buy a bigger battery.

Windows reset ????? Explain !! If I can undo a leather belt and open the bonnet and push a button then how difficult is it to 'reset' two windows !

Reset is not difficult but with the right battery I won't need to do it, I just want to get in and drive my car and not have to open the bonnet every time I leave my car parked up and then again when I return to it and reset the windows

Thank you James for the link, those batteries look like what I am looking for, when the Aero is at home it is on the Ctek so I am only concerned about having a strong enough battery for trips away.

My suggestion is what I have done for my S1 ,Aero 8.I still get the dreaded 'click' from time to time but I have the reassurance of the jump starter pack should the battery drain in e.g. a hotel car park overnight, or whatever.

I tried a few booster packs but you need something fairly beefy for the V8 in the Aero;I went with this in the end and am very pleased with it -
