You can take the train from Porthmadog to within a mile of Portmerion. It's on the Blaenau Ffestiniog Railway. Another worthwhile trip is on the Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog to Caernarfon. The line follows the Glaslyn river as it climbs into Snowdonia; it is really stunning scenery.

If you're in the area you can always drive to Morfa Nefyn and take the 2 km walk to Porthdinllaen and have a drink at the Ty Coch pub. It's rated as one of the most spectacular places with a bar on the beach.

Well the other couple has bailed on us but Beth and I are still planning on coming over next year for the Revival and for the Morgan Factory. Now we are just trying to figure out what we want to do with the other week of our trip. Maybe a tour through the Welsh Coast, or perhaps Cornwall?

Their loss, good for you for sticking to your plans!

Cornwall and the Welsh Coast are both wonderful. Personally, I wouldn't pick Cornwall's narrow stone-walled lanes at the height of the tourist season and driving on the wrong side of the road. I'd go for Wales - great driving, no end of places to visit and very friendly locals.

On the way from Goodwood to Bristol/Malvern direction you could see Bath for 1-2 nights. This old town still has charm and has not been over-run with chain shops etc.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
