just wonder if anyone has had a rear brake drum out of round as my last rolling road showed quite a variation in brake efficiency on the left wheel , have had a look through the brakes which have had minimal use since new cylinders and linings , the vehicle tester gave them a warm up which didnt help and surprisingly passed it , suggested i give it a good workout and muttered something about a kit car he had in his shed , would appreciate any thoughts, bruce

Try checking that the brake cylinder hasn't seized in the back plate.

It can happen, despite the brake drums being of generous proportions. Sometimes, it can be caused by parking the car up with the handbrake on with hot brakes (eg after some spirited driving)

At this stage though I'd be tempted to check the replacement cylinders and shoes. As TMG says check the cylinder is free to move in the slot and has been lubricated with a little HMP grease.

Also check the brake linings, especially if you have the bonded on type. Had a set of non Mog ones from a reputable maker with a large pocket between shoe and lining which gave rise to a high spot between lining and drum.

I've had one drum go slightly oval.
Replaced with used drums which were OK for a while, but I'm noticing slight judder again.
Shoes look OK and cylinders are free.

thanks for the useful info ,noticed that there was a possibility of overheating initially and gave the slave cylinder a careful going over and some grease which may have helped in allowing it to recentre , haven't had any shuddering ,but all info is valuable and will take on board thanks bruce
