I'm getting ready to install a new hood on my '64+4. I have put a set of those offset cam levers on the bows. Question- should the hood be installed with the levers in the relaxed position? If so will this cause overstreaching and pulling the windscreen too much when tightened? Or should it be done with levers in the up or taunt position. Not sure I can snug the hood tight enough that way. Or somewhere in between. Aw the tax on my elderly brain. Also any advice on attaching the lift the dots, tenax, snaps. The hood is sans fasteners,need to be attached, thus the questions.

Put the hood up with the levers in the relaxed position. This is their main job, to make it easier to put up.

They put a lot of strain on my 4/4 hood....probably explained why it eventually cracked. I remember Ben Duncan watching me put the hood up and commenting how the top of the screen moved!

If it wasn't for the bench seat on RTA they might have made putting the hood up possible...

Bob's right, the theory is that you put the hood on with the levers in the relaxed position and then swivel them into position.
The slight wrinkle (no pun intended) is that as they go over centre they stretch the hood even more than normal and that can lead to problems too. The Morgan windscreen mounts are pretty flimsy affairs at the best of times, and the tension of a hood places additional stress on them.

My advice is to attach all fasteners first.
Front side and rear .
Then use the over centres to tighten the whole job up.
I must say that this is very easy to do and make putting up the hood so easy.
And much quicker than without offsets.

Thanks for the variety of replies. I understand the theory and application of the swivels. My problem, poorly stated, is that I have a new hood, will be having to put the fasteners on by locating positions, punching holes etc. It came with no fasteners in place. My question is along some of the answers given. How tight should I have the hood as I place each new fastener? Sounds like if I do the install with the bows in the down position there may be an issue in too taunt when levering up. If I install the fasteners with the levers up there will be no tighten effect thus negating the lever need. Or do I split the difference and put levers in partial up position when doing this? Now going to count my louvers again...
