I sought a +4 built around 1960. What I was looking for was:

BRG
Wire wheel/disc brakes
Cream instruments and switches
Bonnet strap
Luggage rack
Brooklands wheel
Tonneau cover
Great overall condition

Lucky me found the car and added a folding windscreen and aero screens, a half tonneau cover matching the upholstery, and sidescreens that fit.

My outstanding wishlist includes an electric fan to help cope with heat and traffic and a wicker picnic basket.

A Morgan that will go from 40 MPH to 80 MPH extremely quickly. A +8 or a +6 Roadster will do this. I don't think even a modern +4 (I have never driven one, but My Zetec powered '61 DHC does not) meets My requirement. In the Western U.S. the ability to pass 18 wheel trucks and RV's is paramount to Me. It is this acceleration, not the burble that IMO makes the +8 great! This week I will drive My +8 Bitsa from Seattle to Sun Valley, Idaho (a 2 day trip) . Pick up My Friend who owns a 2000 +8 and co-drive Her +8 to Strawberry, California (over the 10,000' Sonora Pass). Join the Northern California Club for "Flog Mog" which is back across the Sonora Pass to a couple of little towns in Nevada and then another Pass across the Sierra Nevadas to Sutter Creek, Calif for the final party. Then to Ashland, Oregon and back to Sun Valley where I will pick up My +8 Bitsa and return to Seattle. Whew! I am tired already.

Button you've got it right.

Must have in a Plus 8 is, obviously, a good road trip - frequently

From My experience driving in the UK and Northern France in My '63 +4-4Str I did OK. However the Motorways in the UK scared the crap out of Me. I was in the Truck Lane and going too slow. I would have loved to have a late Model +4. I can see No reason to Have a +8 in the UK or Northern France. I have no experience in driving a Morgan in the Alps, but I would imagine a Modern +4 would do just fine. I suspect the trucks are on Motorways where I would not be. Maybe the Caravans would be a problem, no experience.

I generally agree with You except I think an eye level brake lite is a "MUST HAVE". But it should match the rest of the Morgan and not look like a space age creation.

+4 in ivory (classic old english car colour) 2 litre duratec or MZR churning out a bit over 200bhp with throttle bodies (for sound track) and still returning low to mid 30 to the uk gal. Suplex front suspension set up , panhard rod and nice big front brakes, s/s wires and proper bumpers.Oh and painted dash, not the polished veneer.... like whores boudior.
