rain gets through bonnet louvres when car is parked stationary for a period of time , which has built up around the spark plugs causing the engine to miss , i have to remove the water by pushing kitchen towel around the plugs to soak up the water, its a 1994 4/4 zetec .I have made a pair of thin aly sections which divert the water past the line of the plugs , the sections are fixed to the center bonnet hinge on both sides about 25mm loer than the bonnet and lift when opening .each aly section is hemmed to let the water divert forward and not to fall on the plugs, i have been using the car a lot in hot weather and it doesn,t seem to cause any overheating problems .the problem realy only happens when the car is stationary.

Where are you situated as you seem to have rain but a lot of hot weather. In UK we have not had much hot weather.

Sarnia, I see from your first post that you are living on the Channel Islands. I fitted a second hand Ford engine cover to my car and do not have a problem. I also covered the engine when washing it and when parked up in the rain overnight I put on the Phoenix car cover. Just some thoughts.

I can highly recommend "John Tailor's storm cover" for stationary in wet conditions.

I have exactly the same problem with my black top zebec. I cover the engine when washing, but are planning to have a cover fabricated in the future.

I know I am a bit thick but how do you get that Sarnia is in the Channel Islands from the post?

It's not that difficult to make a shield up out of sheet aluminium. http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/167821/4

Hi John, I sometimes look at posters previous posts, gives me a 'flavour' of the person. Eg lots of positive posts vs lots of negative posts.
In this case he mentioned his location.

Does the Plus4 engine that is used at the moment have the same/comparable vulnerability for water build-up that can cause trouble?
At first sight I do not see area's where I would expect water to collect.
I intend to cover the car when parked in the rain but should I also cover the engine when washing the car?
Regards,
Thomas 2017 Plus4
