Do the sensible thing. Wheels should not crack under normal use however old they are. That one has cracked shows faulty manufacture, and if that is the case it wont only affect one wheel. The time to think "I should buy a new set" isnt as you slide into the Armco.

They crack very easily and it is very common on these wheels, nothing to do with age or faulty manufacture.
The wheels were designed for a racetrack not the road, pot holes and the such crack them. Hence they were redesigned quite early on in the S1's life.
I would repair it personally..

Fair point Howard. I had a torrid time dealing with Audi around the problems with RS6PE 21" rims failing. On the Audi three of the four rims went after 6000 miles and so I am happy to say manufacturing failure was the issue. Other cars have also suffered this.
The issue here is the state of roads. Some of the pot holes around here could count as swimming pools on expedia. There is a fine line between failure (Audi) and some of the road wreckage? If it is one wheel then I am inclined to put it down to other factors ? It could still be a single wheel failure as you suggest ?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Thanks to everyone who has offered advice. I have learned a lot about mag alloy wheels. Going to try the repair route and we will see how we get on. I took the wheel off yesterday and the crack is pretty fine to say he least but nevertheless there and needs sorting. Thanks again, what a great facility Talkmog is. Graham

I had this happen to my Aero wheel years ago when I had one. I called all the specialists that I knew at the time, including historic race prep companies and nobody would touch it. If Simon can repair magnesium, that's a real asset to the forum!!
