A while back I was asking for information on air filters for TR3 equipped Plus Fours and recieved a lot of feedback, for which I was very thankful, but I wasn't completely happy with the idea of hurting the bonnet side panel. In the interm I also encountered a problem with manifold heat boiling off fuel in the float chambers during hot weather. After a bit of design work and some metal bashing I ended up with what I think are acceptable solutions for both issues. Here is a link to the page on my site that explains how the work was done. http://www.jackscars.net/morgan_intake_mods.html

Excellent solution Jack. Have you considered stub stacks inside the canister? is there enough room?

There is only about 3/4" clearance between the face of the front carb and the inside of the canister.
Turbulance at the carb opening is an issue but it isn't a deal breaker as far as performance is concerned. I wanted to use something like the inner canister plate out of a twin carb MGB as it is almost perfect in its shape to ease the air flow, but alas the Bs use 1-1/2" SUs and of course the TR motor uses 1-3/4" units.
Intake stacks are pretty chancy things anyway. You can use them on race motors but they have to be "tuned" in length for a specific course, cam profile, porting, et al. Shorter or longer according to the most used rev band for the event. They look cool but they do very little or nothing for general road use.
Anyway the old TR engines have so much torque anyway that messing around with stacks is a losing proposition. I was just trying to strain out the birds, rocks and road kill on this engine.
