Redline shockproof seems to give good results as does the Millers EP140.

Redline shockproof seems to give good results as does the Millers EP140. When I carried out a survey of bevel box noise and possible solutions Redline Shockproof only worked in a few cases. EP140 is now recommended by MMC but again has mixed results. My first fill with Castrol EP140 quietened the BB down a bit but after the 2nd fill it is as bad as ever.

Model A trans lube is 600wt if i remember correctly. At 600w I would be a bit concerned using that. A model T does not do a lot of revs at the differential compared to the new M3W higher speeds. I would be afraid of it just flinging outward and not flowing into the bearings well enough. Just my thoughts on that much heavier of an oil/grease almost.

Im debating between EP-140 and Redline Shockproof.
Early adopters of redline seemed pleased, but the latest info seems to say it is no better than EP140??

I used redline since 2014 but i just got my mog serviced at the factory & I believe they use the ep-140.. i think it's quieter now

Im debating between EP-140 and Redline Shockproof.
Early adopters of redline seemed pleased, but the latest info seems to say it is no better than EP140?? Kirk, all I know is that when I recommended it to the M3W forum, the Harley CVO forum had been going through some noisy transmissions. A poor design by Harley, sound familiar? I noticed a bit quieter in my bike over the standard trans oil that Harley used. It is a clinging type of oil and in my opinion, it was a good move for me. As you stated, some here have seen an improvement in noise reduction and others say no better, but no worse. I would still use it, it has to be as good as the EP140 gear oil.

Thank you both. I know that if you want lots of differing opinions start talking about oil.
Its cheap, so i can experiment. S&S has a 80w-140 i may start there.

Oil 600WT is a good oil for rear differential gear of the pre-war Bugatti.
