I'm back...........

When packing the Morgan, I found the the boat bag sits upside down on the cobra with the zip faced down. Good for keeping the kit dry but risking scratches.

So I knocked up a neoprene fix just before setting off.

It just sits there and is held by the boat bag.

When we got back. I made a better version.......ready for the next trip.

Talking of Cobras Dave, Would you share how you wired in the Extra Brake Lamp.

My 'lash up' is supposed to have caused the fuse blowings I suffered from recently.

I'm surprised reading this topic because I thought that the boat bag will provide a protection for the "cobra" in itself !!!
As it is expressly made for this position does not it includes an integrated softer peice to place it ideally on the "cobra" ???
It'll be easier to put in place, it will not move lateraly and it will not damamge the paint of the HISL ...

The boat bag zip faces down and is recessed reasonably well, but with all that jiggling about, there's a small chance of scratching. In fact the Mohair could rub the paint, especially if wet, and if any grit gets in there.
Since I had a ready supply of neoprene, it was easy to cut a patch just before we set off, and it stayed in place. The new piece is shaped better - I had a bit more time to think.

Thanks for the reminder of the earlier thread Dave. Now, call me 'Thick' if you like, but I still cannot be absolutely sure of how you spliced into the loom and where you spliced. The fact that you marked the 'live' side of your plug and socket also interests me. Did you know which is the live side of your new brake lamp?

I spiced into both of the two separate cables going to the Cobra using two separate connectors, one for each cable.

I then placed one side of each of the two sides of my new cable into each of these cables.

The other end of my extra umbilical cable has a 'plug in' connector socket similar to your one. It is a one way fitting. I fitted the plug in part of the connector to the other end of my New High Level Lamp cable.

The Dealers Mechanic has said that as soon as I plug my Extra High Level Lamp into that connector I am creating a 'Direct Short'.

I still cannot see It? If I am using the same technique as you.

Spliced into the cobra wiring (cobra side of factory plug) Frank, so that the car wiring is not altered. Somebody suggested a two pole switch - meaning both wires are switched. I don't consider a switch is necessary, but fitting one would then mean that only one lamp was switched in - either cobra or high level light. I suspect that what's going on here is that while you car is under warranty they don't approve of DIY mods. Ask the mechanic if he'd approve of a two pole changeover switch.
The live side of my additional lamp is the red wire, but some are not colour coded. I marked the live just to be sure - wet dark night etc etc.........
