It says the BMW v8 engines have 'dried up ' in the factory .
Someone left them too near to the radiator

Article about ' which v8 to put in the Mog ' worth a read , don't mind which one . It says the BMW v8 engines have 'dried up ' in the factory . I havent read the article, but my suggestion would be a GM LS engine? Would work with both manual and auto transmissions too. Light, relatively small, and more than enough power.

Bill Fink fitted a few LS engines to Morgans, he called it the Plus 8 Plus. A very good and powerful solution by all accounts, but for some reason MMC have never seemed interested in GM engines, which is a bit of a shame. I suppose they might not have wanted to annoy Ford.
But my money for a future engine provider has got to be on BMW. Germany is the biggest market for Morgan outside the UK, which has got to be a significant factor.

Having worked for GM, I couldn't imagine dealing with them would be straight forward. Given Morgan's existing Ford and BMW arrangements, they'd be best sticking to who and what they know.

I was at the factory at the time they were sourcing the 3.7 V6 from Ford, and it proved a difficult deal to broker.
It is said that BMW are significantly more helpful, and are real enthusiasts.
I say that being no great fan of the BMW range, but they have my respect for how they have dealt with Morgan.

I predicted a while back that BMW would become MMC's sole engine supplier. Last year BMW announced their new small engines, as follows:
The three-cylinder petrol engines now come in 95bhp/162lb ft and 114bhp/199lb ft guises.
The four-cylinder power plants are available with 147bhp/248lb ft, 188bhp/295lb ft and 231bhp/331lb ft.
The N55 straight 6 puts out about 300bhp, but would it fit in any MMC chassis? I did wonder if the changes to the front suspension, moving the springs and shocks outboard, were to free up room for a strait 6. BMW do not have, or have ever made, a V6 petrol engine.
The BMW S63 V8 is 4.4L and about 440 bhp, it would probably fit in the Aero...
ALL these engines are turbos, and very complex.

GM are very well set up for third parties using their engines. There are a lot of small manufacturers using them. The V8s are also simple and non-turbo (although supercharged ones are available). You can browse what they offer directly to consumers here: http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/crate-engines

Why not continue the Cosworth run and put the new TVR Cosworth unit in the Aero range .. Even if it's just for the 50th anniversary V8 model of limited editions. It's sounds great and already has side exit pipes.
