I bent the frame on my 2013 car and needed a new frame. I re installed my empire kit as it had been on the old frame and had a caster mis match. The car will pull in the direction of less caster. I had to machine .125 off the rear threaded section to get more caster adjustment. The rig runs straight now with hands off.

i have a new chassis installed (2012 model) and the Empire kit allowed me to adjust caster and camber that was not even on the new chassis, old one was same issue.

Well folks, my depressing adventure continues. I've shared my crack saga before. I had the crack welded on my 2012 and the repair turned out nicely, however the EXTREME PULL TO THE RIGHT AND RATTLE VIBRATION continued, Some of you may remember that this saga started some time ago. After the crack repair the symptoms remained. I decided an extreme inspection was required. Up on stands with a pry bar to tweak and wiggle everything I could. As I worked my way to the front I found nothing, then as I looked up in the area of the upper A frame on the right just behind the A frame mount and hidden by the body I could see another crack. When I went to the top to look I found it wasn't a crack but a break in the tube-the, entire circumference, or two pieces of tube, SIGH-- I'm glad I finally found the problem. I sent pictures to my dealer here in San Francisco and he is very sympathetic. I've been afraid to drive the car for some 4 months now, but I guess a new chassis is in my future also as some of the rest of you have already experienced. Sorry to be so windy, but I hope my tale might encourage some of you with the earlier years to be vigilant. My love affair isn't over, just suspended for a while.

Keep your spirits up. At least you have found the source of the problem, now you can focus on getting a new chassis.

MMC originally said that this problem only occurred on cars that had been driven very hard in competitive conditions for long periods of time but then many people who had only used their cars on the road and never even done a track day had cracks appear in their top tubes.

I agree that this should never have been a problem if correct CAD and FEA software was used at the design stage and a more suitable material such as Reynolds 531 tubing used for the chassis..

What worries me is that when a crack first starts to form it would probably be invisible to the naked eye, particularly under the paint, and do we know how quickly a crack can go from the initial invisible stage to the life-threatening stage.

If both the top tubes crack and this goes un-noticed, how long before the bottom tubes crack and the entire front end falls off?

If I was a member of the executive team at MMC, I think I would be having a few sleepless nights.

With the brake pedal breaking last week this is two potentially life threatening failures in a week , to which can be added an earlier bent wishbone .....

I won't list all the more minor problems along with the imaginary bump steer issues in this post , but I am one seriously pissed off customer.

As I have said earlier I have paid a lot of money to do the development driving for Morgan , but I'm starting to wonder if I want to continue in this role .

These threads about the m3w have made me think.
Morgan's success with the original 3 wheeler was built on, it seems to me, the following.
Cheap to buy
Cheap to insure
Cheap tax (advantageous road fund licence in UK)
Excellent handling (see the videos of them screaming past the Bentleys at the bends)
Very reliable.
Can the modern one meet any of these criteria?
Yet it's another success for the Morgan Motor Company.
It shows really how much their customer base has changed. And very recently really. I well remember the owners meetings being populated by scruffy chaps talking about the mechanics of the thing...then inspecting all the mods on each car there. That was only twenty or so years ago. The last few meetings I went to three or so years ago had very different types talking only about shipping their cars to foreign lands for a holiday and what excellent meals were available and where.
We've changed and so have the cars I guess...?
