I feel a little guilty but yesterday I was in a bit of a hurry and their were these 2 guys gawking at the car from inside the front window of Cycle Gear….and this question came up- is that the engine on the front? I said no that is just plastic. The real engine is under the hood. They looked at each other, shrugged their shoulders and walked off. The best part was THEIR WERE NO MORE QUESTIONS!
I guess I should have said "The real engine is under the bonnet". Good response! My daughter's "boy friend" (in quotes, because I refuse to accept it), when standing there and looking at my M3W for the first time, asked if he could look at the engine. He's only a Senior in college, so I guess I should forgive him for being an idiot, but I can't... This is the same guy, who after going for a spirited ride in my '14 Corvette Z51 convertible, had this to say: "thanks for the ride". Polite, but a dufus.

Curious...what was wrong with "thanks for the ride"? What would a non-doofus have said?

Curious...what was wrong with "thanks for the ride"? What would a non-doofus have said? Well, given that he asked me exactly nothing about the car, it's engine, trans, suspension, features, performance, handling, fuel economy, styling, color, interior, seats, power top operation, cost, weight, or specs, I found it somewhat of a shallow "conversation"... Reflecting his lack of interest in expanding his knowledge in anything mechanical - or in trying to engage somehow with his girl-friend's father. The response felt roughly the same as if I had just showed him our new dishwasher. But perhaps I'm being too hard on him... Nope, don't think so.

An 80 odd mile run to Peterhead Prison Museum yesterday on a sunny day. Well worth a visit. Built in 1888 as Scotland's first convict prison it closed in 2013. Until 1888 Scottish prisoners were sent to England to serve their sentence. The regime was harsh. They had their own railway to take convicts to a quarry 2 1/2 miles away. They give you an audio headset for the tour & go at your own pace. One of the guides there Jackie Stuart was a a prison officer & held hostage for 3 days in a riot in 1987. He was rescued by the SAS. On departure someone wanted a photo with me in the car, you get used to this. http://peterheadprisonmuseum.com/ Tim

In sunny perfect weather today I made my final trip for this year. Route: Zurich, Brunig, Grimsel, Furka to Hotel Belvedere, then back and over the Susten, Sattel and Albis back to Zurich. All about 280km Pictures are from car park at Hotel Belvedere at the Furka Pass. https://up.picr.de/30625201qd.jpghttps://up.picr.de/30625199wx.jpgTomorrow we will travel to Zermatt on the weekend with the +8. The weather is excellent until Tuesday.

Great photos. I remember seeing your M3W at Grindelwald, nice car. I have similar photos taken on the Sunday after the this years meet, when the rain disappeared and the sun came out, stunning scenery and memorable. You are very fortunate to have such runs nearby.
Will they let you any where near Zermatt with a "highly polluting" V8? I thought you had to move your pollution to the power station to go there in a car?

Nice.
I went over the Derbyshire peaks to Oakmere Morgan for a mooch about and saw Big Steve's M3W in their workshop. Sounds like the clutch has let go.
