Nothing from My experience. My old Sail Boat competitor has a 2005 3.0. He and I are often together on a variety of runs. You can hear Him shift, up and down constantly. I just sit in forth behind Him pushing the accelerator to keep up. If needed I can use 3rd but this is rare. Part of this is the gearing in My +8 Bitsa, but the real benefit is the low end torque. In the U.S. the Roadster is holding its value, but then there are only a 100 or so of them. The nice +8's are also holding their value. Not so My +8 Bitsa, but then it is a Bitsa after all.

And nothing else gets near the sound of the V8 thumbs.

Roadster is a better drive. Plus 8 is more iconic.

And yes I have owned both.

Hmmm? For certain the Ford V6 is technologically much improved over the Buick 215 derived Rover V8.

I don't ever regret buying my 2004 Roadster new. I like the way it revs - none of this 'put in top gear and drive it all day'. If that's what you want buy a Mercedes convertible.

Yes it don't sound sexy but they made it quiet so you can hear the +8s trying to keep up evil

And yes, I've driven lots of +8s and Aeros including a GTN.

One man's meat ...

My choice would be a Roadster rather than a Plus 8, if the right one became available; however it would have to be very special for me to part with my 4:4,

There's no doubt that the Rover V8 is an iconic engine and sounds remarkable. But the 50s design is a limiting factor.

The V6 Duratec is a much more modern design which is further back in the chassis, so better weight distribution and it revs like a race engine.

If I could I would have one of each but my favourite Plus 8's are the early ones.

Guys, you are tugging me in many directions.
Mrs KenA is very much in favour of the Roadster because it is a better drive for her (removes the hot feet problem and adds she can drive it - both very big plusses over the Plus 8).
Having tweaked the Plus 8 a bit recently, it is a much nicer drive for me but the negatives (above) are a big sway. More help needed!!
