Nice to see a television program actually reviewing a Morgan - generally if they get a mention it is only in passing during an inane Hammond vs Clarkson banter. (Bitter, me?! Nah!  ) Do we need the word 'inane' in a sentence which already includes the words 'Clarkson' and Hammond' A tad tautologous peut-etre?   Cheers, G And taught me a new word also

"In some cases an acronym or abbreviation is commonly used in conjunction with a word which is actually part of the shortened form. One of the better known examples of this is "PIN number", which is often used when explaining the concept. Other common examples include ATM machine, ISBN number, HIV virus, UPC code, VIN number, DVD disk and RAID array. This phenomenon is humorously, self-referentially referred to as RAS syndrome (Redundant Acronym Syndrome syndrome)'

 Wonder why such things don't annoy me as much as e.g. "I, personally" - that really gets on my nerves... BBC standards have definitely dropped to match the rest of the world... Use of such tautology by politicians is normal - would not expect them to know any better, they have to pad out their unnecessary statements (read: BS) somehow...  Cheers,

A good number of years ago I represented a coach firm owner at a Traffic Commissioners' hearing ( problem with dodgy brakes on a PSV) He started to give his story and his first words were," Good morning, my name is ----. Myself personally, I'm in transport - buses actually"!  G
