I considered the conversion Chas did to turbo when I had my +4 but opted to upgrade.
My T16 +4 was from 1997. A nice car but the ECU constantly failed

Hi Perry,
According to the handbook of my August 1999 +4, which has the Rover T16 unit, it kicks out 99kw (134bhp) at 6000rpm, and gives 185nm (136lb/ft) of torque at 2500rpm.
And a great motor it is, too. (But I'm still contemplating upgrading to a 3.7 Roadster...)
Hope this helps.

Were all the Rover M/T -series engines coupled to a Land Rover gearbox?

The T16 had the R380 gearbox.

Yes, either LT77 (fairly sure it was the S version) or the later R380.
