Does anybody know whether it is possible to remove the seats in a 2011 Roadster without removing all the rail system from the floor? There appears to be two bolts at the front that retain the seat to the adjusting mechanism but I cannot see how they are held at the back. With the nuts removed the front of the seat can be lifted but I do not want to force it in the wrong direction without knowing what is holding it at the back.

If the cars are all the same, and I suspect that they are, there are two bolts in the back as well. One for each seat rail. It is easier to access if the seat is moved as far forward as possible.

I don't think the seat can be removed without removing these bolts. My recollection is that the bolts go through the seat rails and the wooden wedges under the rails, and are bolted right through the floor boards.

There are six bolts on modern trads.
The front two go through the chassis crossmember.
The second pair are just through the floorboards and the rear pair, which are longer, go through the double skinned crossmember ahead of the rear wheels.

I am really trying to get the seat off the rails leaving the rails on the floor. I can see from your photos the two bolts that hold the seat at the front but it's unclear if there are two at the back or whether there is a hook arangement. If there are bolts at the rear then they are unlikely to be accessible without removing the whole assembly from the floor.

Thanks for the response. I am trying to get the seat off the rails, leaving the rails in-situ. So how does the seat fix to the rails at the rear?

Mine only has 2 bolts for each rail. It is the work of only about 10 minutes to be able to lift the seat out. It is then still attached to the car by the seatbelt, which I never bothered to remove, and I just tipped the seat upside down on the luggage rack.

Andy - I don't think its possible to get the seats off the runners without removing the seat completely, As Peter has said, its a ten/fifteen minute job to remove the bolts and lift the seat onto the rear shelf.
