Chaps, As it has been such a nice day, I took the car for a 36 mile run to my local Wilco store to get the glue for the interior mirror which recently fell off. Incidentally, Wilco's is about 4 miles from me but you all know how it goes. Anyway, due to my wayward behaviour and a lack of attention to the fuel level, suddenly a light came on that I didn't know I had namely the low fuel warning light. My question to you all is, how much fuel is left ( Plus 4 2015 ) when this comes on. The hand book is useless.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

Reg, can't answer your question but I am curious as to which light it was & if I have the same on my 4/4. A photo maybe? Cheers.

IF your car has a 55L tank, as does my Plus 8 then the low level light comes on constantly when there is 5L left, so 50L used. it will come on and go off, depending on gradient, acceleration and braking, with about 45L in the tank.
I confirmed the 5L left by adding close to 50L to the tank when the light had been steadilyon for about half a mile.
The Plus 8 has BMW electrics including fuel tank sender, pump, etc. It has a fuel gauge that is accurate, displaying both graphically and as a percentage, to the point that I trust the information as I do in any modern car.

If its the GDI dash I think the light is on the fuel gauge. I had it on once last April on the way to Bicester, and due to being in the middle of nowhere, I had to run for over 30 miles with the light on. When I filled up there was plenty left in the tank. The light just popped on and stayed on, so I suspect its a function in the ecu. The only way to really be certain how much range is left is to run it out................. I would rather avoid the light!

My 2012 plus 4 is reputed to have a 45 litre tank... thats what the manual says. On a long trip recently I let it drop to just under a quarter on the gauge.... was getting quite anxious based on the mikes covered. On filling her up I got 42 litres in. Hmm.
I'm half tempted to run it until dry but I really don't want to stir up all the cak in the bottom of the tank and get it into the filter pump and injectors

I have been running a fuel gauge check on my 2012 Plus 4 today. Strange coincidence. I was carrying a 5 litre can of fuel just in case.
When the guage was steadily on zero I stopped at the next service station, about 10 km, and filled up. A tad over 46 litres.
I need to check but I always thought the tank held a little over 50 litres.

It's said to be 55 litres. 11 gallons or thereabouts.

My 2013 +4 tank holds 55 litres, when the needle is banging on empty I can only get 37 litres in !
