A seasoned member of our local M3W club branch mentioned at the last meet of over lubrication of leaf springs reducing their natural damping ability.
I imagine his thoughts were more relevant to vintage vehicles fitted with inadequate forms of alternative damping but would be interested to hear other opinions.

Rolls Royce used to lap each leaf together to obtain a perfect sliding surface which was then lubricated and covered with a leather gaiter to keep the grease in and the dirt out.
There is a modern alternative to place a Teflon type liner between each leaf to achieve the same effect.
There's no doubt that an unlubricated, dirty leaf spring will provide more damping and less springing but that's not what it's designed for.
I don't quite see how you can over- lubricate a leaf spring.
I grease mine and then wrap them in Denso tape.

I have used teflon between the leafs on My +4 for years. But need to oil also. I forget and it is a rusty mess with teflon sandwiched between the rust. Chain oil spread on the top leaf twice a year is the way to go.

The greasing till is very integrering. Alas, very difficult to get hold om, ut sees. None om eBay.

Just make sure you have enough room around your leaf springs to fit it in.

Funny, I found only one, the one you mentioned. It seems to differ from the one depicted in this thread, lacking the wedges you force in between the leave. Or is it not properly assembled?
