To design a custom made dashboard (mainly arrangement of instruments) I would need a drawing of the current classic dashboard (the outer shape would be sufficient).

Just use your existing one as a template, it's not a big job

Hi Michael, I’ve got a current ash dash left hand drive hanging on my den wall. I will gladly copy the outline onto a piece of paper if it helps and post to you. Regards from Wales.

I'm not sure if it would be of any use but I have a outline drawing with dimensions of a 1982 4/4 dashboard that I could sent you as a PDF

Do you have a LHD or RHD car/dashboard? Just turn the template over Actually to do a perfect job it may not be quite so easy. As we all know every Morgan is different and the shape of the top of the dash, under the leather roll, and the point above the door opening can be a variable, all be it slight. I would start with a piece of plywood cut at least 5mm wider on each side and with the bottom corners 5mm down. I would then trim the sides and the curve under the windscreen pillars until it fitted up well under the scuttle then trim the bottom left and right corners. The next step would be to put the board in place and sit in the car and then mark the point which is visibly in the centre of the steering wheel from the driver's point of view. Note that the exact position of the steering wheel is another Morgan variable and has not been constant over the years. The visual centre of the dash behind the steering wheel is not exactly in line with the car because the steering wheel is slightly offset from the drivers seat. If you don't get this point correct any instruments or warning lights that should be visually central behind the wheel will appear to be a few millimetres to one side when viewed from the driver's position. Difficult to explain. I hope I have made it understandable.

I have this original factory walnut dash from the pre-GDI Plus 4 if it is any help. Borghi has dashboards for just about every model available. http://www.morganautomobili.it/allestimenti.htmlYou need to scroll down to find the GDI dashboards.

Thanks to all of you for the valuable inputs The dashboard is intended to be for a new Plus 4 LHD (production start scheduled for week 3/2018). As the original arrangement of the instruments for a LHD IMHO is not perfect, I decided to go for a custom made dash. @Gambalunga: thanks especially for the hint regarding the offset! I intended to have the dash produced in parallel to fit it right after the arrival of the car. But it seems worth waiting to have the original as a template. Difficult decision

This is the Borghi dash for the Plus 4 GDI (current model) You can have it in a wide variety of timber finishes and have a Motolita steering wheel re-finished in matching timber. Good excuse for a holiday in Italy The GDI dash provided a good deal of the inspiration for my new dash below. New dashboard in elm with magnolia faced instruments at Borghi's ready to install. New Dashboard installed Driver's view. Passenger's view.
