I did the deed. Prepped the car for the long sleep. Fluids are fresh, fuel is topped off and tires are slightly over-pressured. Pulling battery tomorrow.
As usual the wait will get to me as winter here can be long. If they didn't salt the roads so much it could be slightly shorter but our little steel/aluminum/wood beasties just cannot stand up to that toxic combination. Until Spring!

My car will follow next weekend. No snow yet in eastern Massachusetts, just a very few wet flurries, but wet and cold mean storage not driving. It's going to be a long Winter, no matter how short or mild it is.

Michael, just a quick thought.
Okay, nothing is very quick with my replies, but...
I always clamp off my oil feed line to my '76 HD Shovelhead as it tends to sump after sitting for over month without running. So in the winter I have been using needle nose vice grips, but I was at Harbor Freight last weekend and they have hose clamps with round rod and a flat metal clamp area for the purpose of clamping off hoses. They come as a kit with four different sizes. I bought them for $3 or $4, can't remember, but it was a good deal.
I've got my smaller one on the line and it will not mark the hose from being clamped.
I would highly recommend clamping off the feed line from your oil tank just as a precaution. Tie a string to it and run it back to battery lead so when you re-install your battery you remember to remove the clamp.
Enjoy your winter...
Dan

It was a beautiful crisp dry day here so I put on my sheepskin and enjoyed the morning commute. Mind you after sitting outside in the cold all day it took a few spins to get the old thing going at home time. Got a few strange looks too from people with heaters in their cars 🌬

I've never had an issue with this motor. Last winter I had one drop on the ground.
Thing to remember is that I store the car in a place so damn cold that the oil is the consistency of crystallized honey and is not going anywhere in a hurry! Welcome to Vermont!
My biggest thing is remembering to pull the battery and bring it into the house where it will stay warm. I have a trickle charger for it which it will be hooked up to for several weeks before I need it again. Cold weather, as well as hot, eats batteries...

Arran (Scotland) had its first snow cap of the season on Sunday but it was a beautiful crisp sunny day and, in view of the fact that it was Remembrance Day, I donned the "Irvin" and we had a pleasant outing in the Brooklands.

Just ran Sta-bil through yesterday. Felt good driving her at 45 Deg F, but will be down to 20 here next week (-5 or 6 C) so had to get her tucked away before the salt hits the roads. A sad day but it was a satisfying stretch of driveable months.
