Dangerous for me to get over involved here but Roberts' "old" Aero was being sold (now sold) by its current keeper because it is not raw enough (too good if you wish) and will be replaced by a traditional car.
To quote section 4 "Use" in the Super Sport Pedal Car Instruction book: "Braking should be achieved by applying force in the opposite direction to normal pedalling. The handbrake should only be used when stationary and is not designed to slow the car when in motion".
Having said that, Robert should have had the car returned to him with the handbrake functioning for which I will take some responsibility. George from RPM is now getting in touch with Robert to resolve this. Russell, Indeed the pedal car has been collected and is on it's way back to Perth. I didn't realise that the post had been the motivating factor when George contacted me - it was only Brian's post alerted me to this. Thanks for your efforts Indeed the pedal car instuction booklet - a rather natty collection of photocopied sheets - does quote as you say. However my older daughter wasn't using the handbrake to slow the car. My concern was that it would roll away when stationary perhaps with one of her two younger sisters sitting in the car. Regards, Robert Robert, I hope you don't mind me making this point as a 'reply' to your last post but I think one of the significant things which comes out of this thread is the importance to the Morgan Marque ( and therefore MMC's overall health) of the role played by their dealers. So, big up for Russell and RPM and let's hope MMC continue to recognise the contribution their dealers make. ( and no, I am NOT a fan of the Factory Showroom) regards, G

Hi Boshly,
Please let's not fall out over this. We are allowed to differ and indeed that was the main point I was trying to make in my reply.
However as regards the pedal car. I personally do extrapolate QC on a pedal car to that on the grown up cars built in the same factory.
However even more fundamentally I judge people on how they treat my children. It's a principle that has rarely failed me and in this regard MMC fall below what I expected in terms of the original repair to the chassis which spoiled an idyllic Christmas present. In point of fact I have actually been quite limited and restrained in what I have published on the forum as regards the pedal car out of respect with MMC. They have indeed been very attentive since and the car was today taken to RPM.
No marque is perfect - the only cars (touch wood) that have been recovered from my drive have been Porsches.
I didn't think that I was throwing the toys out of the pram so to speak - I was irritated that the fact that I had criticised MMC at all had gone down badly.
Enough said. Please let's move on.
With kind regards,
Robert
I'm sure we're both old enough and ugly enough (personally speaking of course) not to fall out over simply disagreeing with each other Please may I just add, MMC are not beyond reproach nor should they be immune from any criticism, from you or anyone else ( ). If my posts in any way conveyed that, then I'm sorry as that's not what I feel. I only wanted 'the right to reply' and to voice my opinion.
Cheers

Can we stick to easy words please. I had to look "apposite" up. We only did very short words at my school. This is probably why I now work in "puters" I just want to say that I did not intend my post to suggest that anyone was over reacting or making statements that did not have substance. I also support the open minded and clear opinions promoted by all parties on the forum. Pravda is not beneficial. I also got a moment to read Top Gear and looking at the colour of the Wiesmann left me speechless. Several descriptions entered my mind, the most appropriate being "dogs engorged danglies". That was not meant as a compliment either. Transsexuals have better taste than that. I appreciate we have some strongly coloured cars in our midst and think its great but white and day-glo fushia trimming ? You may as well drive along with your reproductive parts on display with a big sign over your head "look at me". Interesting that Jason did not make a comment on the colour scheme himself. Perhaps he calls himself Clarissa at the weekend and likes it ? With the love and harmony breaking out all over these threads we may have to ask for some of our members to be seconded to the UN.

Now they always say that make up sex is always the best kind (Robert please don't take that the wrong way ) PS Cheers Alistair, I understood your post exactly as it was meant

I was seconded to them for nine months in the 'eighties- no love, very little understanding, huge egos and even bigger expense claims! Give me TM anyday G PS Strangely enough, I actually liked the last edition of the TG programme -especially the driving on 'Star in a reasonably priced etc----' and even more so that shot of McQueen's old Indian

I did enjoy the Senna piece. I met him many years ago and still feel sad when I remember watching the TV feed on that dark day.
I just have to question why that was on Top Gear ? They don't usually run adverts for forthcoming films on the program do they ? Perhaps I am a little harsh but they are presented as the "big thing" and so have to live up to that for me.
For me it is not bad TV just not good "Top Gear" as it moves away from interesting stuff and into self serving stuff that is less and less relevant to our lives. The speed run by captain slow was formulaic. The star section was the most interesting for ages but that is the issue, most of the others were "insert name here" repeat format. I did love seeing Rubens who is a wonderful man as ever. But you could cut that section out and you would never know which series it was from, where is the development.
The most interesting thing they have done in ages for me remains the motorbike trip in Vietnam. That has a rich ingredients list. The photography, new information, real spontaneity in the coverage. That is leading edge which is where I would like to see the Beeb go with Top Gear.
Maybe I am being a little harsh but I just don't find myself making the time to watch it live anymore. Now it is one of many I Sky+ so I can flip through the tedious bits.
Damn I have just entered grumpydom.

Damn I have just entered grumpydom. Welcome Unfortunately, I missed most of the Senna bit - getting dinner sorted (heard most of the voiceover, when Madame would stop talking... ) Cheers,
