Do you think if Musk hadn't hit the market that the main players would be bothering to go electric?

I came up to a roundabout the other day and prepared to blend in with the flow having judged the speed of a car coming round the otherside. I was caught out by this cars amazing acceleration. It was of course electric. I think that the acceleration of the Tesla Roadster will causd problems.

I read today that a Tesla Semi sounded more like a medical problem effecting older men!

Good point, my take on this is that whilst electric cars have masses of torque and so fantastic mid range acceleration it is still down to the driver to drive appropriately.

I've some experience of this sort of situation. Both the Plus 8 Aero and AMG C43 also have a lot of torque and rapid mid range acceleration.
No one expects the Plus 8 to be going as fast as it does, this means at times I have to drive with care, so I don't frighten people.

The C43 is clearly modern, with 384 ft- lbs from 2000 rpm and with AWD it gets the power down: the result is that its 30 to 70 acceleration is faster than the Plus 8 and it catches people out can make them jump, especially if the explosive crack from the exhaust as it changes up happens as you pass a car.... evil

I am with you on that one Peter. I often see people underestimate the Aeros. I worry about blowing the windows out of a car as I pass it in the Coupe with the side exhausts/high revs/open throttles. If there is room I lift the throttle slightly as I pass the actual car to reduce the effect a little. hide

I did a test pass with a friend and he said he had never experienced anything like it in 20 years of driving.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

With all due respect to Aero's and Mercs I don't think they approach 0 to 60 in 1.9 seconds. That is better than motor bikes.

The same ones that will do 60 to 0 in much the same time on the brakes?
