Browsing around new Classics at BHM the other day, I saw that one new car had detachable bonnet stays clipped on the inboard lip of the bonnet on each side.
This seems like a great DIY option rather than the fixed swivel type. Has anyone tried this as an alternative?

I have the fixed type. They are more secure if there is a gust of wind.

They came as standard on my 2016 +4. I can appreciate Peter's point about the fixed ones being more secure when it's windy.

I think the clip under the bonnet type are standard, Arthur. They work, but any slight gust of wind will unclip them allowing the bonnet to drop suddenly. Wolf Performance make and supply stays that clip the bonnet firmly open, and market them either direct from them or via the majority of Morgan dealers I think. Fitted some Wolf made stays about 2 years ago. They are excellent. Clever locking unit attached to rear bonnet latch fixings which grips ball joint on tip of stay. Seem very secure.

Agree the Wolf stays are really excellent.
My 4/4 has the "new" MMC style stays ...which are ok...but not wind proof or accident proof like the Wolfs. That is they do not lock in place.
