We have some 'lumps' that have appeared over time under our running board tread rubbers On removing the rubber insert we found that the screws holding the aluminium extrusion to the wing had rusted, once again Morgan are fitted steel screws and nuts where the result when getting wet is corrosion and rust. FIT STAINLESS for a few pence more! Interesting to note is that the screws are round head and prevent the rubber tread fitting properly so fit countersunk! The rust on the screw was expanding and pushing the rubber upwards so a keen eye could spot the bumps along the rubber tread when fitted. Anyone on TM had similar issue? see photos DSC_0009 by Robert & Ali Davies, on Flickr

There are already a number of threads about this Rob - including ones depicting resolving the issue

Coincidently I have just mentioned a bit about tread runner removal on another thread. I had my car wings removed, (a roadster) a few years back for respray. The workshop had to remove the tread runners and despite the car at only 3 years old at this stage, the screw shafts on the tread runners were all rusted beyond hope. All of the tread runners had to be replaced. It seems, as has already been pointed out, "they all do that sir"

Use pop-rivets. Cheap and easy to install and drill out when you need to. Why mess around with such small screws, washers and nuts.

Would you believe ColsMog has the stainless steel trivet bars as used on kitchen work tops- fixed with double sided tape to the running board!

I removed them many years ago they are nothing but a problem and the mog lines and curves look far better without them . If you where looking at a shapely woman you would not want ugly obstructions to distract the eye. Same with the Mog .

I agree with JTL - much better lines without them. When I specced out my Plus 4 I asked for no tread rubbers - and I'm very pleased with the result. No discount for NOT having them, though.
