I agree with JTL - much better lines without them. When I specced out my Plus 4 I asked for no tread rubbers - and I'm very pleased with the result. No discount for NOT having them, though. Same for me. Can't see the point of 'em. Nick

I like the look of two strips each side, but didn't have them on the Plus 4.
I would avoid pop rivets, just because I find them difficult to drill out without drifting off-centre, and the aluminium formers are thin.
I think the best option for a refit is double sided tape, with plastic pegs to locate properly. A length of plastic rod could be used - heating the top of each short length to create 'rivets'.

You have difficulty drilling the top of an aliminium pop rivet without tracking off centre when there's a pilot hole through the rivet? Personally, I would avoid double sided tape as should you wish to remove the running strip base from the wing, one risks damage to the paintwork. I can understand that pop rivets might offend the purist but they are easy to use, cheap, easy to remove and out of sight so unlikely to invite any adverse comment from the purist.

I used aluminium rivenuts with stainless countersunk screws (so no nuts underneath). Single sided SA neoprene applied to the strips to prevent water getting between the strips and the running board. Easy to remove when required.

That's a neat solution JBK - a sort of sophisticated pop-rivet approach!

I've never really got on with pop rivets. The tricky ones are those where the centre rod has snapped off above the rivet head and can't be persuaded back down. So I use alternatives where I might need to dismantle.

You are aware of plastic pop rivets I take it? absolutely no battery action or corrosion issues.
