After over greasing my kingpins I managed to contaminate an inner front pad with grease .
Not having a dealer close by I searched around on the internet and used an app by Bendix that identifies pads from a photo , the result Is a match with a 62 to 70 MGB and a Land Rover defender . Anyone know if this is true as MG pads are on e bay for $20
My car is a 96 +8 with 4piston Lockheed Calipers

The pads you need are Delphi/Lockheed LP0047 they were also fitted to the Austin Princess of all things. I know nothing about them being compatible with MGB and Defender sorry.

Thanks Dave I use Porterfield's both front Pads and rear linings. It is a California outfit. If You would rather deal with the UK then take Peter Mulberry's recommendation. "MulFab". Not inexpensive, but You Will stop - rather quickly. Button

OK Dave, so you've made a cardinal sin but many of us have done the same and even more have unwittingly done it through over enthusiastic kingpin greasing.
Simply clean the disk and caliper thoroughly and use a little degreaser to clean the pad(s).
After doing this take your car out for a drive and test your brakes; I will be extremely surprised if you can tell any difference. If, after testing thoroughly such as hard braking on a clear road, you are not happy then replace the pads.
Just bear this in mind: disc and drum brakes do not operate in a clinical environment. Can you imagine your average garage mechanic being overly worried about placing his greasey paws on your braking equipment?
Consider yourself admonished and don't repeat the mistake. Your penance has been to admit it on TM.

Depends on the level of contamination but you will probably get way with a good clean with solvent as David suggests
Having said that, I recently changed a set of brake shoes which had been contaminated as a result of a hub seal failing. Shoes didn't seem too bad, cleaned them up perfectly and went in for a brew. Came back after 10 mins, they were as filthy as before. Cleaned them off again and you could see the oil seeping out of the friction material. Bought a new set in the end!

In my less pecunious days when faced with contaminated shoes, a session with Mr Blowlamp, and the shoes laid flat resulted in the oil coming out at the bottom. A bit like drying chipboard with a blowlamp if you've tried it..........   I don't think it would work with pads as they are usually too thick.

One of the pre war motorcycle gearbox manufacturers (Albion, Burman or Sturmey-Archer) recommended boiling contaminated friction material in petrol to clean it! Not even I would attempt that!

As Arwyn suggests, with long term contamination, it is probably best to consider replacing.
I am not a qualified materials engineer so cannot say whether the material used for shoes is softer or more absorbent than that used for pads; however I suspect pad material is more dense and less absorbent.
If your enthusiasm for greasing has simply run away with you, them you should be ok but do test the brakes on a quiet road.

Try cooking them in a hot oven for a short period [not micro]....but don't tell 
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

Thanks to all it’s good to have a part number , the pads were from peter mulberry and to be honest I couldn’t notice any lack of braking even under hard braking with about 1/3 of the inner pad heavily contaminated ,
I have successfully cleaned pads and shoes in the past but just for peace of mind I will change them .
Then I will have 3 good used spares left over in case I cock up again ( kidding)
