has anyone managed to tame the side screens flexing outwards using magnets? I find the problem particularly great when encountering a cross wind at motorway speeds.

I do recall this being discussed before.....I am sure somebody who recalls more than me will be along soon.

What a concidence, I have just ordered a couple of neodymium magnets for that very purpose. I have made a couple of sidescreens out of 5mm polycarbonate sheet for my '61 +4. If the experiment works I plan to post a few pics.
I am having difficulty remembering how to reduce a 1.2mb jpeg in order to post.
I have posted three pics of screens in the 'Classic Morgan' category of TM's gallery thing ( sorry can't remember proper name, it's an age thing).

I tried it a couple of years ago, using neodymium magnets on the windscreen stays. To be honest, it didn't work tremendously well, they still tended to flap and bang over bumps.
So I switched to using a set of the Librands sidescreen steadies, which do the job much better, although they do make it a little bit more of a faff to fit and remove the sidescreens.

Paul, a part to consider rather than a magnetic solution is to fit, what more recent Morgan's have fitted in the factory are "Sidescreen seals". Have a look at Williamspartshop.co.uk under Bodywork Accessories, 24GBP a pair.
They have a peel off sticky side that sticks to the windscreen surround. They work for me.

I had magnets on my new roadster circa 2013.
I assume they were factory fitted as the car was dealer stock.
They fell off shortly after I took ownership, but once I'd glued them on properly myself they were surprisingly effective.

The seals I mention about are u shaped. It is intended that the Side screen goes over the outer lip and the lip captures the side screen preventing the side screen from flexing outwards.

The seals I mention about are u shaped. When I first saw these I was very impressed, they seem to be an ideal solution for a long-door car with the new widescreen frames, and it would be certainly worth consideration. It has to be said, however, that the usual Morgan manufacturing tolerances (or rather, the lack thereof) means that not all sidescreens will fit in the frames very neatly. One one friend's Plus 4 they are so tight they have to be forced in from the outside, whilst on another the widescreen isn't held by them at all and had to be padded out with extra neoprene strips.

I use Tenax fasteners to hold the side screen from blowing out. It works OK. But maybe a safety item as in an emergency it may be slower getting out of the Morgan. For example when Lorne and Audrey Goldman were rear ended their +8 was engulfed in flames. The ability to rapidly exit the +8 saved them from injury.

If the seals don't grip the side screen couldn't you add some spacers to mount the seals on so that they protrude from the frame more?
