Lager? what`s that?
In a pub up here in Derbyshire there is a sign at the bar "Please do not ask for lager as a smack in the mouth often offends" - it is a real ale pub with its own brewery as well.
I hope its cheaper than the fiver a bottle I had to pay for their beers.

I'm a real ale man myself.

But call me old fashioned. I wouldn't dream of imposing my own personal tastes on my customers. If they prefer fizzy yellow rubbish, the I'm prepared to offer them that too.

Not likely at £4.50 a bottle at the factory - delivered price £6.00 a bottle for yellow fizz no chance.

Real ale and Morgans go together not Lager that's for Audi drivers.

I just find lager is all pi** and wind whereas real ale is mostly wind wink.

The Albion in Chester has a chalkboard on the bar announcing the guest lager is apparently called 'I can't believe its not pi**'!

Not all lagers are the over-fizzy, flavourless chemical brew served up in plastic pubs the length and breadth of the country. There are some wonderful craft lagers and properly brewed traditional lagers out there waiting to be explored and enjoyed. Just saying!

You are of course quite right, but when I go into a pub and there's a choice between some unknown lager which could well turn out to be fizzy p*ss and a proper real ale like Old Dogfondler or whatever I always tend to go for the familiar favourites.

I too prefer a good ale, but with a MMC endorsement it has to be good . . . right??

Cheers,

I shall look a little further into these as I enjoyed the likes of Warsteiner and Konig Pilsner from the tap in Germany.
