Didn't the S5 appear in Feb/March 2016? Probably at Geneva 2016.

So 20 months production may equate to 300?

The S5 was announced at Geneva 2015 Dave W...

from memory, 1st car (the cream + green one) was finished Jan 2016.
Actual production cars were delivered to dealers in May (ish) - and customer cars in June/July AsboJohn & Shooter have an early one and may be able to hone that date.

There was a 6 week production pause in the 2nd half of 2016, to iron out some bugs. & some capacity will have been absorbed applying those fixes to earlier cars.

So back of an envelope counting (I don't have a fag packet to hand) - that's about 18 month's production, less a couple of months for factory shutdown, bank holidays and 6 weeks pause to debug... nets out at 13.5 months. At 2.5 cars a week, that's a production capacity of maybe 135 cars.

A while back (before S5 production started) the venerable Peter J reckoned there were maybe 200 engines left for S5 & +8s... If that number's right, then allowing for 50 +8 50th anniversary models (to be announced at Geneva '18), and a few +8s built during Aero S5 production... build 8 S5 GTs... and you've run out of V8 engines.

Thoughts, anybody?

Will

If nothing else the decision to make the most of the final cars makes it totally sensible.

Think it is pretty safe to say looking at these pictures and the teaser of the new Aero GT this is what the Aero GT is going to look like.

The 200 estimate didn't include engines allocated to Bristol. So there could be a few more engines, but not significantly.

Looks great, but I hope they build it with a bit more ground clearance than the sketches seem to show. Otherwise the lucky owners might find they can't actually drive it anywhere that's not a Motorway...
