V70LER I replaced mine a couple of weeks ago and the subject has been well covered in your previous replies. I prefer the wheels off option as the access is so much better, a head torch was useful.

As lightsphere mentioned, take the wheel off, it will give you a lot more room to play with and clean all the gubbins underneath. When you replace the head light back into the sliders make sure you don't snap the plastic lugs on the head light. If there is distortion you may find the head light goes on one slider only, so the next time you replace the head light the lug will have worn away with vibration. Stick a bit of grease in the sliders, don't over tighten the heath robinson adjuster, as this will crack the inner casing of the head light. When all back together cable tie the clamp to the body of the car, because if you loose one, they're about £120 each. Learned from bitter experience. Good luck with the head light adjustment. I appreciate this is an old thread - but have an S1 Aero 8 and planning a headlight upgrade. I am sure I have seen a thread with pictures of an "Angel Eye" Led conversion carried out (In black and Chrome) on an S1 (making it look slightly less boss eyed) - But despite much searching, I can no longer find the thread. Can anyone help ?

Long story short, its a nightmare - I can't get hold of a decent set of OE style lights at all, just cheap aftermarket ones which are even out of stock as of the past few weeks. Gave up and looked for aftermarket lights like the angel eye and drl's and only ones that I can find are for LHD only. So currently its stick with the old and clean/polish them.. but I really want new ones considering the entire rest of the car has new bits.. PS - People will do a quick google and say you can get them, I have emailed about 10 suppliers and they all don't actually have the physical stock - and the one that "did" sent me a damaged wrong light, and then once returned promptly stuck it back on eBay as a genuine perfect one.. Also tried VW, VW heritage, parts specialists, owners clubs for VW, eBay, Amazon, Euros, Motorserv, Beds Battery, National, Car parts for less (they have one side)...

You can get one light currently as a Magneti Marelli, from most motor factors under 471441480. This is the OS, which is the Aero NS. Its the NS which is impossible to get for some odd reason..(which is the Aero OS).
