2009. Must have been a Friday PDI....if that ever existed then. Badly shaped cowl so the windscreen gasket does not sit onto it properly....leading to water leaks under the dash and a badly fitting bonnet that was just incorrectly made....obviously not Bashers,
The cowl issue still remains with newer cars. I spent some time looking at cars going through and a small number had the same problem. The tin shop really should fit a template screen to the body once the cowl has been shaped to ensure a consistent body shape. But then it’s Morgan.

2009 Roadster: No issues, what so ever, other than the low sump, as mentioned by others and the failure of the spoke sealant on one wheel. BUT this car was owned by Jayne (sales) for 3 years from new and serviced by the factory, so possibly better sorted than most??
2014 Plus 8: A factory demonstrator so I expected perfection. Really excellent pain finish, trim and general assembly, but a few problems, to be fair none due to poor build quality. 1. Wrong O/S front calliper fitted so different sized pads on N/S and O/S. Very promptly sorted by MMC, clear and understandable explanation provided. I know it cannot happen again.
2. Dash switch module failed, all warning lights in the push switches stopped working. Sorted by MMC. I suspect this was down to the dash getting wet through use in the rain, hood down.
3. Cap on vacuum pump spare port failed. Fluke failure, sorted by Williams, not under warranty. Expensive, as wings off to replace £0.10 part....!!
4. Yellow Engine light on issue, still under investigation by MMC and Williams. Solution expected Q2, 2018.
Otherwise the car has been flawless and at 34326 miles is immaculate, if I clean and polish it. The engine and engine bay are also remarkably clean.

2012 Plus 4 Appalling suspension set-up and sagging rear springs before it even left the factory. Too much clearance between top of the centre of the scuttle and the bottom of the windscreen meaning a poor seal (Ses Jays above) Water entering from aircon condenser drain then under the ECU cover and thence through the cable grommet. Left hand mudguard and inner guard too far into the engine bay (about 4cm more than the right) Dash electronics burned out 4 times and ultimately replaced with a hardwired solution. Wrong radio supplied but replacement supplied free of charge. Wrong colour sun visors, but replacements free of charge. Steering cowel leather cover and trinket box not supplied but rectified the next day (while we were still at Malvern). Other than that I had a rather expensive gearbox problem out of warranty but that was not Morgan's fault. Also I completely upgraded the suspension but that was my choice and I am very pleased with the result. With the suspension, throttle bodies, bonnet scoop, and custom dash and instruments, the car is now somewhat changed from the original

My experiences - 2005 Roadster has been superb. Extremely well sorted. The paintwork might have been a bit better, but the only fault is that the sump clearance issue ought to have been dealt with. There are also a couple of holes in the wrong place in the floorboards.......................
2012 - Better paintwork by a long way but with the sagging rear springs. Once sorted, a good year and the Duratec with the Mx5 box is probably the best Plus 4.
2016 - better paintwork, but still not 'perfect'. Very well sorted ride. Overall very good quality. So, like fine wines and ports we can now talk about Morgan declaring a vintage year?

My experiences 2015 +4
Incorrect wiring diagram on top of fuse box, handbook doesn't match the diagram or the actual layout. Hood header rail came off when needed due to screw being too short an barely engaging nut. Nylocs don't seem to have reached Malvern yet, or stainless steel nuts and bolts for that matter. Doors rubbed on body, at one point it looked like the car may have to go back to the factory, but was able to be sorted by BHM. Lost power recently on motorway, checked by BHM, car seems fine so putting it down to Morgan's string and Ford's fibre optics having a tiff momentarily.
Otherwise fine, but a few fit and finish issues which are annoying, namely steaming gauges (none of my older classic gauges ever steamed up, is it really that hard in the modern age to get gauges that don't steam up?) and the vinyl detaching from the underside of the dash due to poor bonding, I did clean and paint the lower part of the upper steering column where it comes through the firewall due to rust on the mild steel, would it really have put morgan out to blow some black paint over the bottom six inches prior to fitting? Keith also found movement in my steering rack recently which was due to loose bolts where the lock tabs had been fitted on the head side of the bolt rather than the nut side, lack of attention to detail and quality etc on the part of the factory as far as I am concerned.
Only other complaint is that the same issues seem to crop up consistently but the factory seemingly make no effort to actually resolve them, 'they all do that sir' is a bit of a tiring excuse, expecting the owner to resolve the issues as part of the 'experience' is not something that would be tolerated anywhere else, this combined with the excessive premium price for a new or almost new car shows that they are not value for money at the market price when other cars are avilable with better fit and finish at a lower price, males me wonder for the future of the brand and whether I will ever be able to afford to upgrade from the car I currently have if I feel like doing so.
Don't get me wrong I love my Morgan, but I just wish the factory would pay more attention to issues and actually seem interested in resolving them, rather than pressing every last penny out of the customer.

Very good trigger. My 1986 4/4 has been very reliable, it's never broken down and left me stranded, although I have had to do a couple of roadside repairs now and again.
Build quality has also not been too bad. All I've had to replace so far is:
Chassis Engine Gearbox Radiator Front wings Rear wings Bulkhead Front Brakes Front suspension Rear suspension (springs & Dampers) Fuel Tank Differential Bits of body tub woodwork Windscreen Steering Wheel Dash Switches Road Wheels Head lights Fuse box Wiring Hood Floor Gearstick
But apart from that, it's exactly as it left the factory over 30 years ago...
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Would it be worth separating this thread by Aero/Trad chassis (Aero +8 being aero model) as the complexity and volume means it is likely to be quite different to be fair?
I am a little nervous on this game. Our S2 had a couple of problems which are common. The Coupe was a rolling spares machine and I have a strong feeling that it has not done with my wallet just yet.
2005 Aero S2 Steering pump Engine sensor Air Con Pump Air Con Condenser Headlamp split and condensing Battery discharge issues with trapped loom around engine/body (lets not talk about the tyre pressure system) Screen washer system coming unbound It has cost a bit but if I compare this to any other handbuilt ultra low volume car that is now 12 years old and has 32,000 miles I don't consider this out of kilter.
I am not going to talk about the Coupe. I might cry.

1994 Plus 8 bought secondhand no issues in 24,000 miles totally reliable. 2009 4/4 Sport bought new, rear reflectors and mountings fell off (glued on) out of warranty, wing stays broke free out of warranty (glued on). ECU broke free (glued on), 3 cracked windscreens due to stress not impact replaced on insurance. Screen washer pump out of warranty, liquorice washer pipes fell off the nozzles spraying my feet, the fan speed switch exploded into about 10 pieces in warranty. 20,000 miles totally reliable. Like triggers broom perfec... 1999 Plus 8 bought secondhand no issues 14,000 miles totally reliable so far. All three were/are enormous fun. Would I do it again - in a heartbeat .

I would have thought that Morgan quality was a meld of the quality of bought in components and the results of an archaic production process that is literally hand manufacture. Most of the bought in bits like engines and gearboxes will be better now than they ever were but there will no doubt be some made in China cheepo bits.
