I’m always a bit concerned, in very cold weather, about damaging the rear window when folding the Easy-up hood.
My hood was replaced 4 years ago by MMC, so the window should still be reasonably pliable. However, being such a lovely sunny but cold morning, I took the 4/4 out for a few miles, primarily to warm the engine and get the oil circulating.
I took the side-screens out, but bottled on putting the hood down.
The car is kept in an attached garage.

Any thoughts or tips on this subject?

I always put a soft cloth in the perspex when folding the hood. Prevents the perspex getting scratched.

I think it may be little colder here in mid winter with average temperature around 0°c. I have not had any problems with the rear window. I don't always put it up when I know the car will not be used for a while. My main concern with the rear window is the possibility of scuffing or scratching it when something is pushed into the luggage space. The car is kept in an unheated locked garage in a car park that is under a mini football playing field.

About twice a year I use the RAGGTOPP Convertible Top Plastic Window Cleaner & Protectant Kit which seems to work exceptionally well.

I think you are right to be wary Simon.

The Aero has a glass rear windows so ,thankfully,is OK - but a couple of years back I experienced problems with the plastic rear window on our Smart car.

As you describe, it was a very cold, frosty day.I had washed the car and was very gently polishing the back window with some Renovo - when it split top to bottom and my hand went straight through

I managed to find a Smart specialist who stitched in a new window panel - as the cost from Smart/Mercedes for a replacement was truly scary

I am now ultra careful when it turns cold; lesson learnt.....

Leave my hood up over winter and keep checking it . When down its folded with a layer of new micro soft dusters on both sides . I also check it over with Renovo regular .

I use a length of pipe insulation over which to roll the window over, with the edge fed into the slot. It avoids it scratching itself and makes a reasonable size of it. (Learnt from previous owner, Tom Calcutt).

The sprayhood on my boat has the same sort of plastic windows in it, and its folded down every time the boat is sailed. The fist one lasted 15 years after which it was quite easy to get a sailmaker to remove the old plastic and replace with new. I'm sure the same could be done on a Morgan hood and it need not cost the earth.

What is the point of buying a convertible and then having hang ups about converting it?

Tim. Good plan. Though I have used towels to prevent marking the window, a decent diameter piece of foam would provide a gentle radius for the window to take when stowed.

I use quite the same, a waterpool frite, but in the middle of the window in order to avoid to fold it.
