Whilst on this subject, is it safe to drive with the hood up, and without the side screens ? Or would the wind entering the cabin damage the hood ?

We’ve used the 4/4 on a number of occasions with the hood in place, but no sidescreens. This has usually been when raining.
All seems OK, but we’ve not exceeded 50mph like this.

About 10 years ago I shattered the rear plastic screen on my Honda S2000 hood by deciding to have a top down drive on a crisp cold evening.

The advice is to drive the car for a while to heat the rear screen up via the heater before folding. The plastic gets more brittle with age and particularly UV.

I used it as an excuse to upgrade to a later hood with a glass screen.

Use caution Simon warm it up first or lay a hot towel on it they can crack if very cold.

Drive mine often with hood up and no side screens (especially after a hair cut) tongue2 at motorway and this year at Autobahn speeds. Been ok so far.

I had some fun replacing the wife's StreetKa rear window a few times, yes you guessed it a crisp blue winters day! She then learnt that the glass in her new mx5 was a much better idea.

Maybe DaveW could come up with a heated neoprene panel to place on the rear window that would work in both the up and down position?
